Simple, but very tasty Lyonnais food!

I only had one day in Lyon, and all my researches (including this site) showed that Café Federations is the place to visit to the try authentic Lyonnais food. As it turned out, visiting this place for lunch was a very good decision. Worrying that there may be no seats available, I made a... read more

Go hungry One cannot leave Lyon without sampling a true bouchon meal It's tucked in a tiny street, a no frills restaurant Wonderful service with patience (my French is extremely limited) The main plates are fabulous. Blood sausage, pork cheeks....the real deal. Topped with a great selection of desserts This was a meal worth remembering!

Excellent menu, with dishes that you won't find anywhere else outside of the Lyon region and yet, those are the most traditional and that everyone who grew up there knows. The service is always impeccable, the quality of the food excellent, the cheeses, the wine, the "grattons" enough to give you a real gastronomic experience, in a wonderful, genuine maintained... We found this little place on a quiet Monday afternoon somewhat by chance. We were presented with excellent service, a traditional menu ( from what I now understand ), and magnificent food which was all delivered at a pleasant price. I strongly advise one to have the chocolate pudding for dessert if it is on offer.

Based on prior research, Cafe Fed looked like a good bet to get traditional bouchon food in Lyon. We made a reservation well in advance and the restaurant was full the night that we dined there. We had the menu classique and everything was delicious, very fresh and well prepared. This is a lot of food and a great value.... More

We wanted a typical Lyonnaise meal and by all accounts this is it. We turned up with no reservation - and they wrangled us a small table... The service was efficient - in and out in 90 mins, with 5 courses... so don't imagine a long lingering meal... though you could eat more slowly than we did... The cheese course... More

A fascinating and delicious taste of traditional Lyonaise food. The set menu delivers 5 courses if you're game, and hungry, enough. Seriously, don't eat before you visit Les Fed's. It's worth it.

A small group of us visited this traditional Lyonnais bouchon and we're delighted by our experience. We did the dinner menu and could not believe how much food was served to us. We could have easily tripled the number in our party and had leftovers. The entrees were all interesting and delicious. Our plates were all very different and equally... More

Wow. If you want an authentic bouchon this is it. Make a booking !!! Dinner is from 7.45- they close at 9.30pm. We went for dinner. Lunch set menu is 19.50 euro and dinner is 27.50. For dinner you get a generous sampling of all 5 appetizers ( a salad, lentils, boar terrine, cold salamis, eggs murette) all delicious. Then... More

Our last night in France and we decided to eat at Le Cafe des Federation, which had we known, we wouldn't have done the late lunch at Les Halles de Lyon, in fact I wouldn't have eaten for a few days beforehand. So what's the deal? Simple, a fixed price menu of $29 Euro per person, which comprises of am... More
