Quirky decor adds to the enjoyment - food excellent

Recommended by our hotel and what a great result. The decor is unusual but so much fun and not tacky at all. The chinaware and cutlery are different on almost every table and fantastically add to the overall enjoyment. We could have eaten one of everything, it all looked amazing. The chinaware and cutlery are different on almost every table and fantastically add to the overall enjoyment. We could have eaten one of everything, it all looked amazing. 5 of us had a great 3 course meal. I had the Salmon Canelloni to start which was lovely followed by superb Duck with Raspberry sauce. I was totally stuffed but managed a very light Creme Brulee. The other diners in my party also really enjoyed their meals. No bad meals out of 15 plates of food is pretty good... More

Looking through the window with it's leopard print golden thrones, you'd be forgiven for thinking this place was a little tacky. Not so. Once inside, each table had a beautifully mismatched theme with co-ordinating glasswear, a huge frescoe of all kind of Dante's Inferno type wierdness, goats heads, gramaphones. Things that just shouldn't have worked together and yet, just did.... More

We have a holiday policy of not revisiting restaurants when travelling, as there are so many new places to try, but we enjoyed this this restaurant sufficiently well to go a second time. It is quirkily decorated with many odd themes and this does give it a certain charm. We were warmly welcomed and the service was good. We enjoyed... More

We (my husband and I) were looking for a restaurant in Lyon that was not a bouchon (we both are vegetarians who eat fish when we go out, as there is not much choice otherwise) and found this place through tripadvisor. We called – it is recommended to make reservations – and got a table for the second service-21.30 (I... More

Went there on a team dinner on my last night in Lyon. The place and location is great but the ambience is ...well it tries to be different and the result is a mix of weird things..like that dog butler and fish bath tub..and small chairs and weird pictures... it was different to see first but the novelty wore off... We had friends visiting from London and decided to have dinner here after visiting 'Old' Lyon. The place is very quirky and has lots of interesting features such as a bath tub filled with goldfish, interesting furniture and art. The service is very good, the staff were friendly and attentive. It gets busy but we managed to walk in and... More

I was leaving Lyon for a year, and my best buddy and I decided that we should treat ourselves to a great dinner before saying goodbye for a while. I decided to go to La Nef des Fous for so many reasons... the menu itself is amazing, the non traditional dishes as well as the traditional ones are just great... More

From the outside the restaurant looks unusual. It's quite small and the decor is mixed and colourful and very untypical of a restaurant , which is a good way to catch your eye. The menu is small but the quality of food is excellent. The staff were helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual . We had... More

This will be a tough review to write. First of all, I love the wacky decor. Fun and funny, lots to look at. Four of us were seated at a big round table by the window....however, seating is so tight and crammed in, it was quite a gymnast feat to actually sit down. No help from the staff as we... More
