Funky setting (mind your step near the goldfish-stocked bathtub on the landing between the first and second floor), hip staff, and savor-worthy cuisine.

Happened on place while wandering Vieux Lyon. Had assortment of fish and meat entrees which appealed to our group ( rather than many Lyonnaise fare that emphasized seafood and organ meat only). Decor is interesting, but strange enough we almost walked out while they searched for a table for us. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food.

We were wandering fairly randomly through the streets of old Lyon when we decided to stop for dinner somewhere and happened across Les Nef Des Fous. The decor is consciously eclectic -- bits and pieces of mismatched furniture and tableware all come together to create a wonderfully homey and charming space. The food, however, was the star. We both opted... More

Ate in this restaurant on 7/2/14 and was impressed by the decor and goldfish in the bath. Had Lamb tagine, it was very bland and quite cool as if it had been reheated but insufficiently. 2 of my colleagues had the same dish and it was the same. Food was so disappointing that the pleasant, quirky surroundings didn't make up... More

Opening Remarks: -La Nef des Fous translates to mean “Ship of Fools” – a theme which you can certainly see play out in the outlandish décor (see below) -Located in the old city of Lyon (Vieux Lyon) -It was raining very hard that night and we didn’t feel like traveling far, so our concierge recommended this restaurant just across the... Crazy place with regards to the interior. They have excellent wines at very reasonable prices,, like bourgognes and pomerols. The food however is not too good. Not everything is fresh, most of it is preprepared and reheated in the microwave (?). The beef was good and well cooked (rare, which is not really the French way).

We were lucky enough to book the last table on a Saturday evening - the place was packed and not really with tourists. The colourful and eclectic design alone is worth a visit (look for the goldfish in the bathtub!) but the menu has some pleasant surprises as well - our favourite was an entrée: duck tartare with hazelnut oil,... Food is more elaborated than in average restaurant in Vieux Lyon. Very friendly service in a top decorated area.

The food here was so good, we feared we had read the set menu price wrong half way through this lovely meal! (we hadnt, it actually was only 29 euros for 3 courses) the salmon soufflé starter was recommended, and worth it. the traditional cassoulet looked small, but was actually a small dish packed with lots of meat, sausage and... This restaurant in the Vieux Lyon was recommended by our hotel. We were the first customers at 7:30 pm but the restaurant was full by 9pm. This restaurant was furnished with antique glassware, flatwares, chairs, including an aquarium in an old bathtub! The 3 course dinner was 30 euros, and very tasty, however 4.50 euros for a children's' juice or... More
