Interesting setting, good interesting food

Small interesting restaurant. Background story around Napoleon and his attempt to decimalise the calendar. The food is interesting and well executed, the service is efficient but not as charismatic as it could be. I would return and everyone at dinner had a good time.

Great food and service. However, be warned that there are not many options without foie gras, and no vegetarian option. I would recommend looking at the menu on their website first!

Visiting Grenoble over the weekend, I had chosen this restaurant partly because of the good reviews, partly because it was located close to our hotel. Napoleon stayed in the building, hence the name of the restaurant. The restaurant is quite small, with classic furniture and nice colours. The two elderly male waiters were friendly enough but a bit austere. We... More

Tonight is the last night of our seven week French holiday. It's our 35th wedding anniversary. We wanted something special to celebrate and we got it. Yes, this is one of the best meals we've ever had in a restaurant. Perusing the set menus on the board outside the restaurant, we decided we need look no further. Di decided on... More

This is an old fashioned style restaurant, with older waiters having a more formal, somewhat impersonal presentation - which could well come across as offhand. The food was excellent: a starter of croustillant lapin was very tasty and the main courses of fillet steak and filet mignon de veau were both cooked spot on, particularly the veal which was "melt... The food is really great and the service quite attentive, combining with a very classy but cosy place to create a superb dinning experience.

Looks formal, but in fact very cosy and inviting. Attentive and knowledgeable service. Fantastic fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly and imaginatively. I can recommend the 'Filet de Boeuf Charolais'. I would definitely dine there again.

During a weekend in Grenoble, 4 of us had booked what we thought, was the best restaurant for our last night. Whilst we were happy with the food, the service let the evening down. The off handed attitude was always present with a total lack of engagement with the customers. However, the thing that I found unacceptable was an episode with... More

We had an excellent business dinner at Auberge Napoleon. Our (chinese) guests and colleagues really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. A special mention of the Cote du Rhone, reasonably priced and really excellent. We very much recommend this place.
