Very ood Savoyard style restaurant in a central location

We felts like having a traditional raclette in a cozy restaurant so gave La Caleche a try. We were seated quickly in a comfortable spot upstairs. The raclette grill was set up very quickly and from the markings/crust we could see that the cheese was very good quality. We were also brought a plate... read more

We were there for dinner and then recommended it to friends for lunch and dinner on the day after. The interior is very good, with old (authentic, I guess) kitchenware, picture and even a result table of 1924 Olympics on the wall. We had pork confit and a duck breast which were cooked good, with nice side dishes and decent... More

A typical French chalet decor with a dark and always Christmas feel - the waiters are fast friendly and helpful - pointing out to my husband that the lamb he ordered would be too small a portion for him. Wine ordered and arrived before the waitress left out table !! Fast ! The food was fantastic - I ordered Duck... More

We had a lovely dinner here. We opted for the set menu of traditional Savoyarde fare (including tartiflette) and really enjoyed it. The courses were well-timed and the staff were pleasant. The local wine was also very good. As previous commenters have mentioned, it is not cheap (especially the apéritifs!). However, I felt the set menu was good value. It... More

La Calèche is located in the centre of Chamonix at 18 Rue du Dr Paccard. I suppose it is a bit touristy but without being too crassly vulgar. The feel is Alpine Olde Worlde rustic - wooden chairs and tables, antiques on the wooden walls, old photographs, old skis and sleds, and old advertisements. Despite all of the outrageous kitsch,... Went for dinner here in early August because it got lots of good reviews. Definitely overrated, people who are not really into their food will enjoy this place. The staff were quite rude, our meal was very rushed, we figured they are not accommodating to people with young families. The bottom line is they don't need to make an effort... More

We changed tables twice and still ended up sitting near tables with many kids. You don't mind in a less expensive restaurant but after paying $150, it is very distressing to eat around lots of kids. However, the food and service was good. Often, restaurants see two women and think we won't mind. So if eating near lots of kids... More

Never eaten here before, but my parents and I liked the look of it for dinner one night and we weren't disappointed. Some really inventive things on the menu (chicken in lobster sauce? sounds weird but it was incredible) and really good, friendly service. We sat outside, watching the world go by, and it was only at the end that... More

We dined here as recommendation from our hotel. It was pretty good, slow service but this place was totally full of patrons is this was why. Good foundue, we had some very tough meat...that was not very good. They spoke enough English and were accommodating to my very poor french, for me to get by with my ordering. Nice atmosphere....
