Not sure where to get lunch in Chamonix, we stopped in La Potiniere. It turned out to be a good choice. The menu was easy to understand, our waiter was very helpful and knew English, and the food was excellent. In the end, we had more food and drink than needed. Cost, per person, for main dish, drinks, and desert... More

We went there for a late lunch. The restaurant was empty, service was quite good. The onion soup was very good, pizzas on average and fondue from Raclette to tasty for me.

It was our first night in Chamonix, we were hungry and we didn't know Arthur from Martha. La Potiniere looked comfortable, so we just rocked in. They found us a table, fed us well and didn't charge like a wounded bull. A good solid performer! Not the place for a date, but a good place to feed the family.

This lovely traditional restaurant seems to have had bad press but we don't agree. Have been there twice in the last two weeks and on both occasions it was really great food and service. There were 15 of us so plenty of chance to get something wrong and this was not the case.

I don't know what was worse. The food or the service. We went there for the breakfast. Firstly we ordered coffee and hot chocolate, both disgusting. Then we wanted omlette and some toasts. Toast was so awful, that we didn't touch it although we were very hungry. And instead of omlette they gave us... Crepes. Better than toast, but it... More

The food was quite ok but there was a lack in the service attitude. The service crew was really cold towards all the customers and they lack of greeting and smiles. The tone wasn't really friendly and it makes us feel rather awkward being served.

We went there on a quiet sunday afternoon, and I still wonder why... Service and location was good but the food lacked taste. We had tartiflettes and only good thing was that it was warm. Sad.

Don't go here. We didn't even finish our tartiflettes. Service was nice and food was warm, but still... :) Keywords: shame on you, terrible, not even close...

I have come here from time to time for many years, it's much the best restaurant on the main square in my opinion. I've always found the service to be efficient and friendly. It seems to me that they are getting a bit of a bad rap here. They deserve a much better average score than they actually have. It's... More
