We ate here at the recommendation of the hostess from our lodging. The interior is cozy, our server was friendly and helpful. I chose the prix fixe menu- delicious soup, chicken and then a delicious ice cream selection (nesselrode?). We enjoyed our meal.

We were wandering around Chamonix looking for a place for dinner, and came upon Le Monchu. Someone in our group had enjoyed raclette before, and pushed hard for us to try it out. I'm glad we did! For 5 of us, we ordered 2 raclette plates and 3 fondue plates, and shared all the cheese. One came with potatoes, both... More

We were wandering around Chamonix looking for a place to eat and found Le Monchu. We were attracted to the fixed price menu selection and decided to give it a try. It was a great meal. We got there just when the place opened up for dinner and sat on the terrace. Shortly after we sat down, they opened up... More

We had dinner here three nights in a row due to wonderful/entertaining service by William. He was very gracious and welcoming. We would suggest this establishment to everyone

Set menu's are not my normal choice however the €31 menu was amazing. The service supplied by William was great. If you are out for 5* environment and service La Monchu is not for you, if you want good food and atmosphere this is the place to be. €31 and I was stuffed, paid considerably more for lesser quality a... We had a table outside under the substantial awning with heat lamps. We ate the set menu at €31.50 and had duck breast and foie gras salad, then the Pierre Chaud (hot stone self-cooking chicken, beef and veal) and tarte tatin/Poire William sorbet - great food and the waiting staff even sorted out a birthday flare for my brother's Tarte... My girlfriend and I came here despite having read previous poor/ mixed tripadvisor reviews as I wanted her to try one of my favourite french dishes, fondue bourginonne (a cheese free strip steak dish that you cool yourself with skewers in hot oil) for lunch our last day in France. This was a massive mistake and this place should be... More

When u go to this place remember u r in the alps and the people are at different pace of life. Order a drink and wait patiently while they present u with culinary delights. Try everything on the menu if u have the time. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of frog legs but tried it anyway...maybe I'll try it in... More

Le Monchu is nice & cosy as well as reasonably priced. We had meat on a hot stone that we grilled ourselves at the table. Sadly the quality of the meat was not ideal, meaning that the resultant cooked meat was below expectations. The first courses were nice, as was the wine the waiter recommended. Sadly, apart from the wine... More

Fondue and meat at stone were great, but unfortunatelly, the service was horrible. Maybe you should try another one or cross your fingers.
