Late night local food

We ate here early May and as we visited out of season it was one of the only places serving food after 10pm. The food was full of flavour but lacked in presentation, it was like home-cooked food. The service was friendly although very informal. Nice food but there are many better local restaurants.

Been coming to Chamonix for to long to remember. The food is always good, great ambiance and the staff are wonderful. In the summer it's a dream to sit outside.

If you wish to taste local French and Swiss cuisine while you are in Chamonix, this is the place. Traditional cheese fondue was good.

We were looking for raclette in Chamonix and Le Monchu was recommended by the hotel staff. Our previous experience with raclette had involved an electrically heated grill where meats and veggies are cooked on top and the "cheese shovels" are placed below the heating coils. The raclette at Le Monchu was different and definitely "old school". The heat source was... More

Great food, authentic French experience, fantastic staff. Go here for sure! Just be careful how much Genepi you order, it can be expensive.

The food was not as good as other places we have been in Chamonix. Our escargot was terrible! It came in a small metal pan with little seasoning and really tasted like the metal of the pan. We could not finish it. Bummer. The fondue was fine. The waitress was less than friendly. Overall, I would recommend choosing La Caleche... More

We couldn't fit here on first night so we made reservation for another evening. This place has become "classic" place of Chamonix with interesting menu from traditional fondue and racklette to more "fine" french cuisine. Good food and friendly service, also quite fast. Please notice that they only have 2 seatings at 7 or 9pm.
