Fun and tasty

Large group, we all went for the set menus although different versions. Most of us chose the Pierrade de Boeuf - cooking thin slices of beef on a salt-flecked hot stone - which was fun but meant that you had to eat or cook, not both. Beef was tender and the salt on which it was cooked meant that... read more

Went there for a lunchtime fondue on a wet day in August. The restaurant was very busy but we were given a nice seat by the window. They seem to specialise in Savoyard dishes as a lot of people were have raclette, tartiflette and the like. We opted for the simple Savoyard Fondue. It was excellent with good quality cheese... I've been a few times over a number of years but this is my sons favourite! He likes the kids 'steak' which comes with either pasta or baked potato and sour cream (he has the latter) and unlike many places they ask him how he wants it cooked. This time I had the fixed menu. Well I started with an... More

Who remembers Fondue ? My wife Wendy & I are on a 5 month Euro tour from Cornwall UK to the Island of Crete and we found ourselves in Chamonix after a mammoth Q in traffic before the Tunnel! We came across Le Monchu and looked at the menu boards outside and looked at each other smiling broadly- we'd not... More

Average meal. Rushed through though. Food was ok but the three meat cook at your table job was pretty tasteless. Very annoying that the waiter asked if the water should be still or sparkling Being a thick Brit I replied still and was delighted to find six euros on the bill. Definitely felt like I was there for their benefit... More

Lovely evening. We sat outside and as the temperature drop and electric awning was opened and overhead patio heaters were activated to keep us cosy. We tried fondue and raclette. The staff were lovely and explained how to eat the raclette as it was our first time with this. Desserts were tasty. It was quite pricy and perhaps not worth... More

We ate there last Friday and had a blast exploring different Savoyard cooking dishes. My wife and daughter shared the most delicious fondue I've ever tasted, while my son and I enjoyed grilling meats on a hot stone in the pierre chaud style. Meanwhile, all around us, customers shaved melted cheese off of huge cheese rinds set in front of... More

Had a lovely dinner here with great, friendly service. Ordered "La Doublette"--really fun! You cook your own steak on a tabletop charcoal grill, melt your own cheese on the underside, and it's fantastic!
