This restaurant was recommended by our receptionist when I told her that we wanted to have seafood. Turns out seafood is not exactly the local meal in Marseille but of course since we were in Provence, we wanted to have it. Very interesting, self service restaurant. You can ask the cashier to switch the menu to English on the screen... More

Thinking to have just a bite and a glass of wine as appetizer for a dinner that we would have had in some other place, I ended up staying there with my friends till the restaurant closed drinking good wine and eating fresh seafood and fish. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly stuff. Just 2 minutes walking from the Vieuw Port.

This is one of the worst seafood meals I've ever had. I went for lunch based on the good reviews on Yelp. I got a small tasteless piece of cod that was boiled o death and smelled strongly of ammonia--as if rotting seafood had been bleached. The taste was awful. It came with a side of green beans that had... More

I've never been to a restaurant like this before but it was certainly interesting. The Oysters were exceptional and amazingly fresh. Shame they don't have an English menu. So we were not entirely sure whether we would get what we want.

Toinou use to be the best place in Marseilles to eat seafood. It was a traditional Brasserie style restaurant as we like them in France. When we went there 1 month ago we were disgusted to find out that it is now converted Into a self service restaurant. This is an absolute disgrace !

It's been already 10 month we are open on new formula. Lots of our customers are very happy about our prices and quality in this place indeed. As the "fast casual" way of service doesn't fit your way of eating, we suggest our new restaurant in Aix en Provence. With perfect service park places and lots of people and waiters.... More

A large display in front allows you to choose from large variety (and quantity) of shellfish, on which this self-service restaurant really specializes on. From fresh urchins to Alaskan king crab, they have all. We had a late lunch and paid almost €45 for a shellfish tray, seafood soup, marinated octopus salad, country cheese, and lots of white wine. After... More

I was a little bit disappointed at first with the new "self-service" setting of the place, but, after all, also in the previous arrangement you did not go to Toinou to enjoy fine china or sophisticated linen. But if you want oysters, crustaceans, mollusks (almost nothing else, be warned) then this is absolutely the place to go. Staff had good... More

Please I ask you to listen to Tsjaikovski's Nutcracker whilst you read this review. The place is an incredible showcase of shellfish. Whatever you have dreamed to eat but never dared to ask is here for you to be eaten. We were told that the place is always fully booked with long queues. However to our luck there was space... More

This obviously comes up as one place to eat in all the guide books. However, I think there should be better places but then we have now experienced this. It is a self service canteen style eating experience and with a fabulous selection of shell fish and crustaceans. The selction of fish (3 types) is disappointing. The selction and payment... More
