On a friend's recommendation, we made reservations at Chez FonFon to try the Bouillabaisse. Having never been to Marseille, we didn't know how we would get to Chez FonFon, so I initially looked for a bus. However, Chez FonFon is located in Vallon des Auffes, and I noted that the l'Open Tour bus made a stop there, and we had... More

For the first time Marseille and guided to this restaurant to taste it's bouillabaisse. And I was not disappointed. It was delicious and I have never tasted a bouillabaisse like this. I can recommend this restaurant.

We stayed in viuex port and walked the mile in a half to the tiny port where Fonfon was. I walked it on google street first so I was familiar to take the long twisted stairway between the tan and yellow building in order to get to the harbor level. A left turn at the bottom had me looking at... More

I booked at lunchtime for that evening . The lady who took the booking was charming. When we arrived last night the maitre'd treated us like inconveniences. No one took our coats and we were seated as far from the windows as possible - although they were full so maybe we took the last table. Our waiter spoke English but... More

I was possibly too pre-hyped for reality to live up to expectations, but this wasn't even what I thought bouilliabaise was--fish served separate from the broth. MY FAULT--I take responsibility for that, but I'm also a very adventurous eater and am very excited about things that are interesting and different, so my disappointment wasn't about the 'different' part. I just... More

Managed to get a last minute reservation and it was well worth it. The bouillabaisse was fantastic and we also ordered a grilled sole which was beautiful although it did have to be returned after the waiter could not debone the fish at the table. Small starter soup was delicious. The atmosphere and decor (modern) was very nice but the... More

We went for New Years Day dinner to celebrate our first day in France and the first day of the year. I really wanted something special for dinner and was willing to well pay for it. We ordered bouillabaise and for 50 euros per person, I found it too be exorbitantly priced for what we got. While the fish was... More

This restaurant is famed for its location (L'anse des Auffes, a traditional fisherman village) and its bouillabaisse. Both deserved. I had the bourride that is similar to the bouillabaisse, but with aioli. I did prefer this one because it tastes a little less fishy.

Fonfon is one of the top 3 restaurants of Marseille for bouillabaisse lovers. Decorum is rather clean and modern, service is very professional. So what about this famous bouillabaisse ? A real delight due to excellent fish - served as boneless filets of superior quality fishes - and a pretty light and tasty "bouillon" which is better than the traditional... More
