Good strengths and bad weaknesses

The location is excellent, there is a whole floor show going on outside in the evening. The service is professional and friendly. Our starters were excellent. Then things went downhill. There was enough (good quality) fish in the bourride for a least three and possibly four. And it had been... read more

Lovely relaxed restaurant where you can experienced good food. Sit at the balcony on the first floor and see the world go by and the ships sail in and out of the port in the dazzling blue seas. Will return again in a heart beat

We had high expectation since our local friendly recommended it to us and said it's a must go. However I'd rather spend more money eating oysters at oyster bar in central Marseille. The waiter was rushing and splashed some of the soul on my shirt when he was refilling my plate. The soup was tasteless and the potatoes were still... More

First the setting in very nice, and service was good. The wine, which was one recommended was good but not great (at 32 Euros). The Bouillabaisse was 50 Euros, and the Panier Pecheur was 40 Euros. The ice cream/sorbet was very good, running 2.50 Euros/scoop. It was interesting to see a local restaurant that wasn't too filled with tourists. It... More

We were well received by the waiter of the restaurant but honestly the dishes are not that amazing if we take the price into consideration. But it is quite agreeable to sit near the window of the restaurant and look at the small ships below and let the wind blow. For those who don't have a car, public transportation does... More

Lunch at Fonfon Marseille: It was pouring rain the day we showed up. We were a few tables from the window overlooking a tiny harbor. . Aperitifs: Couple of cassis and champagne cocktails . Amuse bouche - melon and mint purée drink . First course: Breaded and sautéed octopus served on a salad of mixed greens and diced tomato (remotely... More

We went there as we had been advised that their Bouillabaisse was the best in town. The first shock was the price ! 50 Euros for one dish of this succulent fish soup... We were presented with the whole fish on a platter and I requested the fish to be filleted and served traditionally with the bouillon ( broth) first.... More

Wanted to try traditional bouillabaisse so arranged for dinner here... great location, but must say was a little disappointed by the overall experience: an average "bottomless" fish broth with fillets of 5 different fresh fish bought to your table to inspect before preparing the fish... I think the maitre d' probably could have explained the different fish used a little... More

On a friend's recommendation, we made reservations at Chez FonFon to try the Bouillabaisse. Having never been to Marseille, we didn't know how we would get to Chez FonFon, so I initially looked for a bus. However, Chez FonFon is located in Vallon des Auffes, and I noted that the l'Open Tour bus made a stop there, and we had... More

For the first time Marseille and guided to this restaurant to taste it's bouillabaisse. And I was not disappointed. It was delicious and I have never tasted a bouillabaisse like this. I can recommend this restaurant.
