Managed to get a last minute reservation and it was well worth it. The bouillabaisse was fantastic and we also ordered a grilled sole which was beautiful although it did have to be returned after the waiter could not debone the fish at the table. Small starter soup was delicious. The atmosphere and decor (modern) was very nice but the... More

We went for New Years Day dinner to celebrate our first day in France and the first day of the year. I really wanted something special for dinner and was willing to well pay for it. We ordered bouillabaise and for 50 euros per person, I found it too be exorbitantly priced for what we got. While the fish was... More

This restaurant is famed for its location (L'anse des Auffes, a traditional fisherman village) and its bouillabaisse. Both deserved. I had the bourride that is similar to the bouillabaisse, but with aioli. I did prefer this one because it tastes a little less fishy.

Fonfon is one of the top 3 restaurants of Marseille for bouillabaisse lovers. Decorum is rather clean and modern, service is very professional. So what about this famous bouillabaisse ? A real delight due to excellent fish - served as boneless filets of superior quality fishes - and a pretty light and tasty "bouillon" which is better than the traditional... More

One of the remaining restaurants in Marseille serving genuine and very good bouillabaisse. Definitely a place to come back to.

This restaurant fully deserves it's reputation for serving authentic bouillabaisse. The restaurant is set in a lovely harbour about a 20 minute walk from the City centre. The service is excellent and they take the time to explain the menu and protocol before presenting you with the fish before its is cooked.thereis a good wine list and the night we... More

There are few words that can adequately describe the food at Fonfon in Marseilles. Sublime perhaps comes closest, but unfortunately I'm not adequately equipped to properly give this place justice. Situated in a mini "Venice-like" inlet on the coast of Marseilles with picturesque window views of the fishing boats that bring the freshest of fish to this restaurant, the ambience... More

We were recommended this place by the guy we were staying with and being a seafood fan I couldn't wait.. It didn't disappoint, we had great friendly service, very attentive with the appetisers, wine, and top ups of bouillabaisse soup... We pretty much rolled out of there we were so full! A must if you're in the area...

We recently celebrated my gf birthday there with her family. We all opted for the bouillabaisse, which was excellent. For a started we enjoyed oysters. The restaurant's location on a small port is splendid. We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine before dinner at the restaurant's own tapas bar next door.

Not very accessible Val des Auffes, though, you need some motivation to try and find a car park in the vicinity, but it's worth the hassle. Generous helpings, very tasty food, form soupe de poisson to Bouillabaisse (the best), and choice of fine puddings. Wine is about 40 euros/ bottle but fine. An experience we do recommend.
