Expectations not met

The "bouillabaisse" (supposedly) best in town, comes at a hefty price (€53 pp). While a polite service, it took 1 hour for the drinks and starter! The view outside is nice, get a table at the window. While this is not the type of kitchen we enjoy, it's an experience unique to Marseille.

Our son booked this restaurant for us and gave us a gift voucher. It included a Kir, Bouillabaisse, a bottle of Rose, dessert and coffee or tea. We absolutely enjoyed the 'ritual' involved in the preparation of an authentic bouillabaisse, with the plate of 6 types of fish being shown before they are cooked and added to our fish stock... We had been really looking forward to Fon Fon but we were very disappointed in the food . The small fishing harbour is wonderful and definitely worth a visit . Unfortunately our bouillabaisse was overpriced and lacking depth of flavour . Next time we will go to the bistro next door that serves their food on the steps of the... More

Recommended to us by our hotel, it was quite difficult to find as you have to walk along the busy seafront and then look for it on your left. However it was worth it. When the waiter realised we were English he was so helpful, and brought us out the fresh fish to choose from. He also told us the... More

Not the easiest place in the world to find even with Sat Nav Nice functional looking French Restaurant overlooking a mini harbour with a hodge podge of incongruous houses around it Service ok but very slow The bouillabaisse was very tasty Highly re commended if a bouillabaisse is what youseek

Was really looking forward to eating here given it was recommended by several sources. Our first time in Marseille, and of course we had to have the famous Boulliabaisse from one of the places that supposedly does it the best. We showed up no more than 8 or 9 minutes early. An unsmiling middle aged bald man appeared and showed... More

Excellent service and other dishes, but the bouillabaisse was bland, only two kinds of fish, and the plates were not heated, so by the time the fish came, the soup was barely warm. Not worth the premium price of € 50. All of the other dishes, particularly the daube, boned at the table were excellent.

The saying on the wall about sums it up. Bouillabaisse, it's fish with sun. Great service, great ambiance, awesome bouillabaisse. Excellent view of a small quaint fisherman's cove or parking lot. It's one of the top places to find bouillabaisse that originated in Marseille.
