Good food, excellent art

I thought the food was fine but it did not wow me. It felt like the chef and restaurant are resting on their laurels. The service was somewhat haughty but not as bad as indicated in some reviews elsewhere in Tripadvisors. Nevertheless, I would recommend the restaurant because of the fabulous art... read more

We had been wanting to come to La Colombe d'Or for years, and finally had a spare day to do it. The concierge at The Carlton made the reservation and we took a train to Cagnes sur Mer, before taking a taxi to the restaurant. My wife is an artist and was seriously looking forward to seeing the art. As... More

We ate lunch here in September so it was still warm enough to sit outside. Though if it's too cool outside, the main dining room is beautiful, surrounded by amazing artworks. Be sure to have a drink at the bar before you sit down. The deserts are exceptional, try the apple tart!

Everyone raves about the art, ambiance and building....I agree, all beautiful and worth seeing. I was also looking for an excellent meal and service that would mirror the reputation and menu prices. The restaurant is large with multiple rooms, some better than others. We were seated right away - we had reservations for a Sunday lunch. The lady that first... More

We had been looking forward to coming to this restaurant - booked several weeks ahead with a reservation to sit in the dining room surrounded by works of art and to having the tasting menu. When we arrived we were seated in the full sun outside (OK for some but just too hot) and there was no tasting menu -... More

We had lunch here on a bright, sunny afternoon. The views are exquisite! And even without the views, the ambiance is so special. Dining under olive trees on a stone terrace is wonderful. Try the anti-pasta appetizer, but it must be shared! It was comprised of charcuterie, grilled eggplant, chick peas, couscous, fish, crudité...and more. The salmon mousse was in... More

Recommended by a friend we gave this superb hotel restaurant a visit for lunch. Absolutely wonderful. A fitting end to a wander around this delightful little town.

Last night, 15 February I had dinner at "la Colombe d'Or". My husband and I are very fond of contemporary art and every time we passed by the restaurant we were attracted by the paintings inside. To have a nearer look we booked our dinner. The atmosphere inside is amazing, the food itself is good quality, but the service not... More

Visiting St. Paul de Vence, we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and, there being few options at this time of year, opted for La Colombe D'or. We were aware, of course, of its reputation and looked forward to what we hoped would be a memorable experience. It was, but for the wrong reasons. We were dressed casually, not... More

I have been to La Colombe d'Or many times, over many years. It is still No. 1 for me. The food is excellent, high quality Provence cuisine, superbly prepared. I usually opt for the foie gras, which is the best I have ever had, followed by the carré d'agneau, and then the superb soufflé for dessert. Again, the best I... More
