If you love cheese then this is the place for you!

I have been to the Haute-Savoie region of France a few times in the summer and love Tartiflette, so when I saw this on the menu in Nice I just had to try it! The seating for the restaurant is actually downstairs in a cave like atmosphere - but it is lovely and well laid out. The serving staff... read more

We highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something different and with great service. Try their fondue! It was a treat. No loud music to drown out your conversations. A great selection of wines that goes great with every type of cheese.

Lovely food We had to book in advance to get in, had emailed initially but received no reply Surprisingly cool down stairs which was a welcome break from the heat of the day The restaurant is in an old wine cellar We were suggested wine, which was nice and given the opportunity to choose Would go again Service is slow,... Fabulous cave dining with more cheese than any cheese lover could want. There is no wine list. The nice, young man who helped us said he was the wine list. :). We started with the best crocque Monsieur and split the cheese fondue. Divine. The crocque Monsieur is made with thinly sliced layers of homemade bread and when complimented was... More

This is the place to come if you like French cheese -- it's a part of everything they serve here. The soups, the appetizers, the entrees. You can just come and eat cheese if you like (and many people were). Came here on a recommendation from Rick Steves' guidebook, and, lo and behold, who should appear in the middle of... More

Dined here while in Nice on recommendation of the BestOfNiceBlog. What a great choice! To begin, the wine list is a book -- literally -- with distinctive regional selections. Many pages show the photo of the vintner and briefly describe his/her philosophy of winemaking. We started with a mushroom pate sandwiched between brie, served atop lightly dressed greens. Heavenly! The... More

Probably because we were not familiar with the area, it took us a while to find this place. We were seated in the "cavern" area downstairs which was sort of like sitting in a wine cave. Our food was great and our service was even better. The owner, Gregoire, couldn't have been a better host.

I spent a week in Nice, and as an American who spent her childhood in France, I would say that I know what is good French cuisine. A lot of the restaurants in Nice are expensive tourist traps with crappy food, but not Le Bistro du Fromager. The original plan was to try out Oliviera, but as they were full,... More

What an interesting place to visit.. I had heard of this place years before I went, a cave of cheese.... The restaurant is in the old town, through the beautiful old streets. The restaurant itself is in the basement of the building, hence the cave, which I believe dates back 100+ years. The menu is of course cheese focused, our... More
