Great Lebanese restaurant in Nice

Went last Sunday to Le Socrate. The food was delicious! We had a series of dishes like sfiha, kibes, baba ganush, hummus, etc.. ( no idea how to spell the dishes) everything was delicious. We had a rosé wine from Lebanon that was amazing. Shall return. Perhaps the only downside is the location... read more

This restaurant was a real find. Just off the main tramline of Jean Medecin alongside the Cathedral Notre Dame de l'Assomption, it offers a scrumptious middle eastern vegetarian meal. The lunchtime main course is a vegetarian platter (assiette) complete with hummus, moutabal and other mouthwatering east mediterranean mezze titbits. There is also a choice selection of starters for vegetarians and... More

We ate here at lunch time and had a delicious selection of mezzes. My husband is on a gluten free diet and, apart from the pitta bread, he was able to eat everything we chose. We sat outside in a nice location on a small square off the main street.

We stumbled across this little restaurant by chance on a one night stopover in Nice. The menu is Lebanese and is varied with salads, fish and meat dishes. Service was slick but not hurried and the food was nicely presented and plentiful. The house red wine was excellent. I would certainly recommend this little restaurant just off the main street.

Le Socrate is tucked away from the high street on a pedestrian street overlooking the cathedral. A nice spot to have dinner on the terrace. The menu offers a wide selection of cold and hot mezze (several vegetarians) as well as grilled meat, and a good selection of Lebanese wine. There are 4 menu options which are good value starting... We thought we would try Lebanese food last night and so perused the local Lebanese restaurants on Tripadvisor. This one seemed very highly recommended so off we went. The restaurant is easy to find, right behind the Notre Damme Church, however our GPS got us in a bit of a pickle because it did not allow for the closed off... More

I wanted to love this place, as I am allergic to gluten and I don't have a lot of food options in Nice. The falafels here have wheat in them, so I had to skip that. We ordered around 6 mezzes total and I really like half of them and disliked the other half. The highlight of the meal was... More

Me & my husband took our visiting friends to Le Socrate on a Sunday afternoon when the restaurant was almost entirely empty. We had been there once and the food & entertainment had been good. But this time, we were in for a shock. When we told the waiter that we wanted to order just appetizers (enough for 4 people)... More

Should to stay in the center of Nice we would recommend this place. It's conveniently located opposite the Notre Dame cathedral. The food is authentic. We recommend the Meze, the Kebbe and the Taboulé.

From the other reviews (and this was how we selected Le Socrate for dinner) it seems at times this restaurant serves good food. When we were there for dinner, however, it did not. I had the chicken shawerma, it was terrible, dried and crumbly, like leftovers that had been reheated under a grill, instead of the nice juicy flavoursome meat... More
