Good, reliable find in the Port of Nice

I was taken here by a friend who raved about it. The value at lunchtime was certainly good in that the plat du jour included a generous amount of wine. The food is imaginative such as a starter with quinoa and a main with fish & butternut squash (I think!). So for a real foodie it is probably... read more

We arrived at 7:15 assuming they would be open. The staff just sat and stared at us when asked if they were ouvert (open). Eventually we were given a table but treated very oddly. I think this is a local restaurant and maybe they are not hugely keen on tourists. At least that was the vibe they gave off. The... More

This was recommended by our hotel and whilst booked out the first night we wanted we got the second night. Absolutely well worth the visit. Very local. Predominantly fish but had chicken and meet too. Lobster salad was brilliant. The monkfish was probably the best I have ever eaten and the cod was superb. Fantastic food all round. Wine list... Since there is no just "good" rating, I had to go with "average". 3 of us went for dinner and sat outside overlooking the Port. Good location. We had the Iberian Pig special with mustard sauce, which was very good. The Rack of Veal was just ok, and our friend had the Grilled seafood. She thought it was good, but... More

Tried to visit given the ratings at 25 mins to closing and they refused saying food was closer. I then asked if I could just have a glass of wine or something was maybe already ready and the waiter again refused. The restaurant was still around 75% full. I doubt everyone would have left by then. Went next door to... More

We have eaten at the Le Bistrot several times mostly lunch. As a general rule the plat du jour at lunch is a bargain as they give you two courses, 1/4 bottle of wine, and coffee all for under 20 euros. Once again as a general rule the food at lunch is imaginative and tasty. However on those occasions when... More

After being greeted by the chef at lunch and again when I arrived for my dinner reservation, I hoped for some fantastic fish and was not disappointed. We had the fish in salt for two and it was perfect! The combination of the large fish and the salt yields an incredibly moist, flavorful dish especially when served with mashed potatoes... More

This is a well recommended restaurant. It is by the Port in Nice, which isnt as idyllic as it sound, as a busy road is between you and the boats. The food was OK, but at the prices they charge i would expect better, and better (and better value) is available nearby! - I wont return

We enjoyed a very long lunch with friends at this busy port-side restaurant & thought is was definitely a cut above lots of other local rivals. The menu has really imaginative flavour combinations; everything we ordered was beautifully presented & delicious. We had lobster salad (decent chunks of lobster meat), & crab salad with sweet roasted red peppers. John Dory... More
