On any given day, the location of most restaurants in Nice are competing for the best value and quality of their Bouliabasse (fish soup). Chez Freddy is on the long and interesting pedestrian and market strip only steps away from the Corniche (coastal road strip). The choices for the soup's content are for shellfish, prawns, mussels, local cod or seabass,... More

We bought a voucher from Groupon for a seafood platter lunch, it was a large serving and looked reasonable (except for couple of my bulot not tasting very fresh) which I did not consume and langoustine tasting like they had been bought frozen. However a very unfortunate thing occurred at around 4pm at home when we both fell very ill... More

I've eaten in the market in Nice many times and always walked by Chez Freddy. Unfortunately, today I stopped and had lunch. Nothing terrible but just not what it should have been.Mussels were strong and not prepared well. The worst part of the meal was the way I got fooled into ordering a side of fries. It was presented like... More

This is one of the better value isn restaurants we have come cross in Nice's Old Town/ Cours Saleya area. Excellent bouillabaisse, though partner complained when within a metre for hours thereafter. But I loved the dish - and couldn't finish the potatoes in it. Massive chunks of fish. Partner's fritto mist very good, too, couldn't finish. Local rose completed... More

We called at Chez Freddy quite by chance as we had no reservation, the waiter was happy to find a table Immediately even though it was Christmas Eve and therefore getting busy. We sat in the "tented" area outside in the square, the heaters were powerful and comfort was never a problem. This is primarily a seafood / shellfish restaurant... More

After visiting chez Freddy twice last year and having a fantastic meal, we promised to return. This year we kept to our promise and had a fantastic meal again. We were offered water which we accepted but realised we had Evian everyone else had glass bottles. A second bottle of Evian came once we were empty but were not once... More

We got mussels, vegetarian aioli and a salad. The food was good and the sides large. The vegetarian aioli was the worse, only boiled vegetables and 2 eggs. The service instead was not good and we paid 2 bottles of cheap mineral water 12 euros!!!!!!

The restaurant is located at Cours Saleya, where there are dozens of places to eat. As this is a tourism area, they do not give that extra service that you would find in other areas. The ambient is nice with tables in the sidewalk and the food is ok. I had the mussels as appetizer and a bouillabaisse as the... More

A colleague and I stopped at this restaurant while we were in Nice. It was the second restaurant we visited that I wasn't impressed with. May be I set my standards too high however I was expecting much more from this mediocre cuisine. However, the dessert was great and wine was fantastic!
