Very good food although your choices may be limited on the menu. Make reservations! Within walking distance from anywhere in Avignon. Pricing was reasonably competitive with other good restaurants in Avignon. Staff was excellent as was the food.

Nice food, nice place. Staff friendly and happy to speak English. Highly recommend the duck. Standard price for that level of food, which is good :)

Very good food, though expensive. Pleasant and professional service. Fine for a Sunday night when the options in Avignon are limited. Le brigadier would merit four stars rather than the three if a bit less expensive.

A beautiful restaurant near Place de l'Horloge, central Avignon. Reasonable prices for excellent food. Highly recommended.

I was planning to dine on the way to the excellent "Illuminations" sound and light show at the papal palace and chose to stop at "Le Brigardier du Theatre" both because of its location just below the palace and its listing in the reliable "Avignon Gourmand" guide. The food was extremely flavourful, the house wine was of high quality, and... More

Had wonderful snails, beef dishes, and very good carafe of local wine. Waiter brought samples of wines we questioned and from those we chose the wine. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere and ambiance really local. The place was packed and obviously a very popular place with locals. It was just around the corner from our Hotel de I'Horloge. Definitely... More

Hotel de I'Horloge recommended and got us a reservation at 8pm the night we arrived from a long trip from the US to Amsterdam to Paris to Avignon by TGV...thank you French pilots! The food was very good. We had the snails for appetite but honestly do not remember the rest of the meal, but the wine by the carafe... More

Looking to find a restaurant that did not look touristy, we walked by "Le brigadier du Théatre" and decided to have dinner there. The service was very good, and the food excellent: we had the escargots as an entree, scallops and Baumes de Venise sauce as a main meal, the salmon was also very good and with a good Chateauneuf... This is a beautiful restaurant just off the Place d'Horloge but a world away in food quality. I managed to walk in two days in a row, but only because I was there near opening--they were soon turning people away both nights. The food , service and wine by the glass were great both nights and given the quality, the... More

Our hotel recommended La Fourchette but after perusing a couple menus along the way, we decided to try this place instead because it looked a bit less stuffy. And what an excellent decision, it ended up being just what we wanted. We had traveled all day so we were tired and not terribly starving. We had a small carafe of... More
