Walking back to our accomodation we noticed the cute cow sign and after a quick look at the menu ,we decided to try it! We were delighted with the amazing assistance given by the waitress who explained the dishes and suggested the best local wines. The food was fantastic and what a surprise ,it is renown for it's cheese dishes...on... More

Wine and cheese lovers, this is the place! Small and cosy place where reservations are a must! The service is outstanding and they will go the extra mile to explain the micro regions within the different appellations of origin that the offer. There is a lot of cheese on the menu yet not boring at all. Would definitely return in... More

We "discovered" la Vache a carreaux many years ago before it became famous for it's "based on cheese" menu, and were so looking forward to eating there again. We made our reservation from North America knowing we had only one night in Avignon this trip. We were disappointed. Since our visit years ago the proprietor has added meat options to... More

We were lucky to get in. We arrived early and there happened to be a table for three available. The restaurant was recommended by the desk person at our hotel and he promised we'd not be disappointed. We weren't! Food combinations were modified to match our requests. Local, and relatively inexpensive, wine was incredible. The place is rustic and charming.... More

The place is nicely decorated, with a traditional but modern style, good music and friendly staff. It is absolutely perfect for having dinner. My girlfriend and me had an amazing experience and were both really happy. The food and wine were excellent, especially the cheese. We had the melted camembert with garlic and white wine, the salad and the cheese... More

We thought that this might be a special restaurant, tucked into the old city. Very cute little venue, with a lively crowd. But the food was average. Portions were large, but with no special presentation. Salad had lots of lettuce, but cheese melted on old toast wasn't appealing. Wine selection was limited. Probably better for lunch. nothing special ...

I probably overdid it by having chicken in cheese after the plate of fromages vieux as a starter, but the latter, all 12 of them & mostly unknown even to this 'fromagophile' was fabulous. The chateauneuf du pape wasn't bad either! Friendly service & very good atmosphere.

My hubby and I found this restaurant whilst roaming the streets of Avignon and OMG are we glad we did! A wine and cheese focused restaurant with amazing food and a quality selection of wine! Beautiful quirky restaurant - a must visit if in Avignon, you will not be disappointed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Menu in english which was... More

Definetly one of the best restaurants without a Michelin star that I have ever been to. The bottle of wine we got seemed a bit off so the waiter brought us another without a fuss. The food is incredible. Duck cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. Definetly a locals gem that does not cater to the hordes of... More
