Romantic atmosphere next to the Palais de Papes. Excellent service. Superb cooking and a very reasonable price for lunch.

Can not book first day, hardly get the table on next. Tried two `courses` - gourmed & tomato. Tomato - a lot of fresh ideas, but NOT testy at all! Similar impression about `gourmed` cousre - fashion style (if I can say this about different foams in 2014 :-)) apretizers bunt untesty +very average meat & fish. Looks the chief... More

The restaurant has an atmospheric ambiance from the moment you start up the steps. The service is impeccable! The surroundings feel "historic" and give you plenty of room at your table to feel private. All the courses are delicious! We were so well attended. The menu is so simple to choose from. Seems like there were 3 menus to choose... More

We recently had dinner at Christian Etienne in Avignon. The evening was beautiful and we were seated on the terrace next to the Pope's Palace - seating here is preferable if the weather is good. Our dinners were very good. We were disappointed that they didn't offer an a la carte menu. The night we were there they only offered... More

The previous May 4 review is very accurate on the general food quality and descriptions of this well run, superb restaurant. The fact that he relayed his experience with his young children only adds to our admiration of this first class establishment. Granted, it is a risk in our opinion to dine in such a precise atmosphere as a one... More

We're Americans who are lucky enough to call Avignon home and despite passing this restaurant frequently, we had never dared try is as we have a 1 and 2 year old. However, on my birthday, on a stroll searching out a restaurant for my birthday lunch, Etienne attracted me like a bee to a hive. I knew it had a... More

It was our first experience eating in a one star Michelin rated restaurant and it was a delightful evening. The chef was very friendly. He greeted us and took our coats. Not lot of English was spoken, but we got by. We had a seven course price fixed meal for 80 Euros each and the food was very nicely presented... More

I'm sure the other reviewers are correct about how wonderful the food is here. Unfortunately we never found out. This review is about the welcome and service. We arrived for our 8'oclock reservation booked by the Hotel Europe. We were dressed appropriately. The Maître d seated the party ahead of us in the half full main dining room then escorted... More

During our Michelin star cuisine tour in south france we finished the tour at Avignon and visited Chrisitan Etienne's historical place. I choose the tomato menu and was surprised how much stuff you can make with tomato's. Even the dessert included tomato's. The atmosphere and service was excellent.
