We were a group of 8 (five adults and three children) and approached the waiter to see if they could seat us at some empty tables at the front of the restaurant, and asked for the menu. The owner of the restaurant came forward and began shepherding us towards the back of the restaurant, obviously keen on the business, but... More

FANTASTIC food. I was walking around hungry, and the streets were relatively empty since it was november and many were watching the soccer match. I was lured in by the inviting atmosphere of this place, and the smell once I entered sold me. Each course I ordered was shockingly good (and incredible value), and the waiter's wine recommendations were just... More

We would try the menu du jour, butit was was not possible anymore (too late?) Anyhow we choose a different option. The waitress started very uninterested but was overall friendly Starters: Fried rolls with Goth cheese nice, nothing special , The melon dish was nice but not great. Main dish: Meat dish nice flavor but not tender at all (heavy... More

We dropped in for a bottle of wine, domaine de marie was recommended by the owner, it was quite good! We were too early for dinner but they happily gave us some bread and cheese and a second bottle of reasonably priced wine. We stayed long enough to taste their sampler tapas, it had a combination of all the tapas... More

We chose L'Hermitage as we saw a sign saying they did Tapas for lunch and just wanted something small for a change. We chose the mixed tapas and were not disappointed. The Eggs with Mushrooms was the standout dish as it was something I would not have ordered on its own. The wine was very good value for money

if you go there, def order the appetizer: "oeufs molles sauce cremeuse aux pleurottes. vin blanc et foie gras"!! that's the best i have ever had before! Other than that, I ordered beef for my main course and my bf ordered a hamburger, they are both not so outstanding. the beef were not easy to chew and it's a bit... More

After going to several places in Avignon, we came here for dinner after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. As I don't eat red meat, I found the menu a bit limited, but to be fair, that's true of most places in France. The service was rather chaotic (several times we saw the chefs prepare food only to see it sit there... More

We stumbled onto L'Hermitage for a late lunch after discovering our intended choice, the nearby Newground, had stopped serving for the afternoon. L'Hermitage offered a small but varied menu, however, the real attraction for us was its beautiful patio, tucked into a courtyard alongside the 14th Century Church of Saint-Didier. We both had the lunch special, which started with a... More

I only ate 5 restaurants while I was in Avignon (my poor waistline!) but I think this was my favourite. I am really surprised that this place isn't higher than 30th place. I loved the setting which is in effect the side of the church. It look like a little courtyard with a couple of houses bordering it and small... More

This was my favourite place we vistied in Avignon to eat. It's set in a courtyard next to a church so it's got a lovely old world feel to it and in the height of summer, it seemed a lot cooler than other places. The food was excellent: I had the duck breast and gizzard salad (don't be put off,... More
