Disappointing Food in Nice Restaurant with Good Service

A good place to eat in Avignon but it will not set the world alight with its cooking. The restaurant is conveniently located in a side street just below the Palais du Papes. A good place to eat in Avignon but it will not set the world alight with its cooking. The restaurant is conveniently located in a side street just below the Palais du Papes. It is a very nice comfortable restaurant, popular with locals, with very friendly and welcoming service which was very efficient. We ate on a cold but bright... More

We had pre-booked dinner for big group of 17 people. The restaurant was generous to provide us with 3 options choice for each meal. The snails and duck breast there were delicious. The staff was polite, asked if everything is fine, and was very helpful. The place was full, including the French people, which I believe is one of the... More

Sometimes restaurants don't live up to all the hype but this certainly wasn't the case at La Fourchette. Reservations are a must. Yes, the place was filled with many tourists but we didn't mind. Service was excellent. Great wine! We were a party of 4. Our waitress made some recommendations and each was spot on. The lamb was prepared perfectly;... More

We walked in there on a Thursday evening with no booking and a table was available. The staff were friendly and appreciated my attempts to speak basic French even though knowing we are hopelessly non-French speaking. We had a 33 dollar fixe prix menu, for starters we had a vegetable terrine, fish mousse, and a tomato and mozarella salad. For... More

My husband booked this restaurant for my birthday, and luckily it did not disappoint! It was busy and full, but seemed to be mostly locals which is always a good sign! We went for the 35 euro menu and the food was excellent...I chose the smoked salmon gravadlax with lentils, the beef stew with cheesy macaroni, and the coffee icecream... More

My husband had gotten us reservations even before we left the States. So when we arrived, stated our names and she was all a twitter saying she couldn't help us as we had no reservation. But my husband pulled up our reservation on his iphone as proof and then she was able to accomodate us.....Hmmmm!! So have proof of your... More

Mom's in the front of the house, keeping an eagle eye on every aspect of service. Dad's in the kitchen, turning out excellent food. The vegetables are among the best I've ever had. The young server was gracious and very patient with our halting French. Our best meal in the several days we spent in Avignon.

We stumbled on this place while wandering around Avignon. It was bursting at the seams but they squeezed us in. We had tapenade to start and then a mix of à la carte and prix fixe options. All were absolutely delicious: the parmesan shortbread before the meal was a nice touch, as were the free roasted potatoes we were given... More

Good location in old Avignon. Food well prepared and nicely served. Well known and always recommended in guide books, so lots of tourists. But pleasant dining experience.

When booking there were no tables for 2 left but the efficient woman at the front of the house changed the floor plan to accommodate us and we were not dissapointed. Chic modern decor, well staffed, this busy bustling resto was buzzing all night but the service was excellent throughout thanks to a well seasoned waitstaff. Food was well prepared... More
