Our hostess (owner?) was fantastic. She reserved a nice romantic table for 2 in the outdoor courtyard. She checked on us several times to be sure everything was okay, without hovering. The food was superb. My husband started with the turrine of eggplant followed by the rack of lamb. I started with the egg with truffles followed by a large... More

Learned of the restaurant from the hotel, the tour guide, and an Aussie traveler. Tried to go one night but they were booked, so went the next night, with reservations! (pardon me that I'm butchering the fine chef's descriptions of these fabulous gastronomic pleasures). We started with olives and cheese biscuit bites on the table. Tres Bon! My 23 year... More

A simply wonderful meal in a wonderful setting with friendly and attentive staff. If the tuna dish I had is anything to go on surely it will not be long before this establishment gains an upgrade from the michelin guide.

This restaurant was a surprise. We had one of the best dishes we had in all our trips to France including many restaurants with stars from the Guide Michelin. Try the fleur de courgette, an unforgettable dish. You should make reservations.

really world class food - slightly more sophisticated/modern interpretations of simple/traditional dishes. good value for money. the only slight disappointment was the slow service but, being fair, the restaurant was extremely busy and it's understandable that food of this quality takes a little time. thoroughly recommended.

This restaurant was recommended by a trusted source. Yet when we looked at the menu outside and then walked in (reservations needed) we were concerned that we might not like it. We had brought guests so the evening was important to us. Wow! Every course was beautiful and delicious!

Two set menus - and so many combinations: every option can be ordered à la carte or used to make your own set menu - with that, we were able to get the best of l'Essentiel! We had first a variation with Summer truffles with oeuf mollet - superb; followed by a suprème de volaille - even better; and a... More
