That evening was raining heavily, and I had a quite big group to lead to dinner. So I came to the restaurant with request to lend us umbrellas, as our hotel didn't have that much. Hope I didn't scare madame Dominique to much :) This is one the most pleasant places in Avignon we ever visited for meals. Service is... More

Went here with 5 business colleagues. For dinner. It is an unassuming place from the outside but when you enter it is great. The restaurant consists of two rooms and I when we were there on Tuesday night it was nearly full...always a good sign. The mix of clients were locals and tourists. We were offered two prix fix menus... More

WOW - taste sensation ! Three courses each and could not find one fault. Each dish melted in our mouths and being from Melbourne - food capital of the world - we now give best restaurant to L'Essentiel !! From the duck terrine, to roasted partridge to the most delicious three raspberry dessert - dont ever let your head chef... More

We had a wonderful meal a L'Essentiel. We were seated immediately upon arrival at a table located in their beautiful courtyard. The food was very creative and very good. The owner/hostess personally attended to us the entire meal, helped us choose a great wine, described the dishes, made recommendations and was genuinely interested in making our meal special--which it was.... We passed bij the resto and from outside it looked already appealing. We tried without a reservation and got a table for 5. The interior is nice and clean. Service by the host was great and better than French standard. We ordered the 3 course menu. Taste was great, courses came a bit to fast after each other.

The food, food presentation, wine and service were all excellent. The owner's wife was our hostess and really wants the guests to have a perfect meal. She was very attentive and checked in with us several times to ensure we were liking all our selections. The food was exquisite. Definitely recommend.

Family operated, friendly and so accommodating to some special dietary needs. One of best meals we have had and if we were staying in the area we would be returning to eat here again! Location is great near the city center UNESCO sites. Service could not have been better. All six in our group were very happy. I can personally... More

Upon entering the restaurant, one immediately notices the elegant and contemporary decor. The maître d' and the waiters were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. We ordered from the 31 euro menu, which included an appetizer, entree and desert. The delicious food received very high marks from our group for presentation! The floating island soup was a culinary wonder!! It was... More
