We were part of birthday celebrations for a special birthday. We enjoyed the menu at 41 euros which was a beautiful 3 course meal with choices including foie gras, lamb, scallops, strawberry desserts. A delightful meal, lovely wines and remarkable service!

While walking through Avignon we came across this lovely restaurant and decided to make a reservation for lunch. Smart move; when we returned it was full. We enjoyed a superb three course meal for €31.- with a little extra for glass of wine and coffee. Excellent service. A definite must when visiting this lovely town.

We had originally booked for dinner but changed to lunch at the last minute. The owner was very accommodating. The quality of the food was sensational. We had three courses, which was more than enough for each of us. We chose to have the wines recommended to us, and they were superb and well matched. Best of all we were... More

We had dinner at L'Essentiel and it was wonderful. By far the best meal we have had in Avignon. My husband had the duck, mother in law had the scallops, and I had the chicken. The service was also excellent, very attentive and helpful. But the best part was having a fish tank as a table accent. Such a cool,... More

So glad our tour guide steered us towards this restaurant. We were greeted by the wife of the owner who took us under her wing. We started with a great Rose (Tavel) and then some great Cote'de Rhone wines they recommended (each one was fantastic, reasonably priced too). I had the egg with truffle oil and butternut squash soup which... More

We had toured the city of London, the town of Canterbury, Paris, and finally we arrived at Avignon feeling as if we had not experienced a really 'fantastique' 5-7 course meal. So we decided to try this restaurant. First of all, to ensure you get a seat, make a reservation for this restaurant before you go. It is easy, simply... More

We went here for the night of New Years Eve, 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed their special Fete du Saint Sylvestre NYE set menu. At 89 per head, it was pricey but was on par with many other restaurants that night, and not the 300 or 170 per head, that other restaurants thathad beenrecommended to us,were charging. There were four of... More

After missing dinner at a fantastic restaurant in Gignac the night before due to a lovely bout of gastro over the Christmas period I was finally feeling hungry for a nice meal so we decided to make a short detour to Avignon on the way back to Italy. After buying some wines in a little wine shop just off the... More
