Our Best Dinner in Provence

Six of us ate at La Criquet tonight. Some of us had poached cod, some ate sea bass, and others had a rack of lamb. EVERYTHING WE HAD WAS DELICIOUS. If you are fortunate enough to be in Arles, and can get a RESERVATION at Le Criquet, then, by all means, DO IT! You will LOVE the food and the... read more

I am having a hard time figuring out why this restaurant is rated Number 1 on TA. Our greeting was excellent. Menus were presented and explained. Ordered a bottle of local rose which was fine. Once the food came, we were ignored. Not in a mean way, but in a whatever way. The lamb that I ordered had two chops.... More

After a sunny and windy day, by the way a Sunday, it was decided to have a good and fine dinner using no car. TA in hand I booked there, with some difficulties it was overbooked! We have been welcome by two fine and smily young women, and the food has been as good as the comments suggested on TA.... More

The restaurant was busy and full. I ordered the sea bass that I had seen reviewed positively on Trip Advisor. However the waitress informed me that they had been unable to source sea bass for several days so instead they were serving turbot. I was not very familiar with turbot though I knew it was a well regarded eating fish... More

Very friendly service in a pleasantly small restaurant. I enjoyed very enjoyable grilled squid with creative regional vegetables, my wife had the rack of the lamb which was equally well cooked. The goats cheese on artichoke starter was excellent, as was a lovely creme brûlée with delicate herb flavouring for desert. All in all a well cooked and very pleasant... More

We were recommended to Le Criquet by a gentleman that owns a B&B in St. Remy. We're so glad we went! Best sea bass I've ever had! Wonderful environment and service. You will definitely need a reservation!

Le Criquet was recommended both in our travel book and by our Airbnb host, and with good reason. I found it to be astoundingly good. Their specialty, bourride, was the most memorable thing that I ate during my two week, European vacation. Also, the service was delightful and the ambiance charming. If you visit Arles, you must also set aside... More

We dined twice during our stay of a week in Arles. Both experiences were fantastic. The staff is more than friendly, after the second visit we felt like family. The service was helpful and efficient but not intrusive. The chef was on point both evenings. The three course meal was good value. How I wish the place was here in... More

I first visited Le Criquet in 1964. It was extraordinarily good value and filled the boots of my then 22 year old self. I went every night for a week and repeated the process each year up to 1968. Madame Blot did the cooking and her husband did everything else. What a couple! It was a delight to find that... More
