Excellent!

Small menu but the food is of excellent quality, fresh and nicely presented. The service was perfect and very friendly. We can really recommend this restaurant!

Only 2 options for each course on the menu but no need for any more as everything we were served was delicious. €32 (I think) for 3 courses. We weren't stuffed but had eaten plenty. Not options for a carafe of wine and the cheapest bottle of rosé which we had was €32 so not cheap but it was very... More

Fist: I reserved the table but lost the address. I had the phone number, called them and they sent a waiter round to meet us and take to our table. Now that is amazing. The staff and even the customers found our arrival a great event and we were treated not as complete idiots but as valued and welcome clients; always... More

Ok. I am not going to be politically correct here. Leave the fanny pack and cargo shorts behind. If you are in the most upcoming art scene town in the south of France, Arles, you must come to L'Autruche. The husband and wife team run the best restaurant in Arles. The emphasis is on fresh seasonal food. Friendly and warm.... More

The meal was excellent, the vegetables were cooked but still somehow fresh and flavorful. The dessert was exceptional. We arrived right before the opening time and the wait staff was so friendly. They politely asked us just to wait 15 minutes while they got everything ready. We were seated and the service and the meal were great. The ambiance is... More

Rather than a restaurant, this is a kitchen where you pay to have what they're having. You be the judge - here's our experience: - choice of 1 starter, 2 mains and 1 dessert - one waitress, not familiar with the location of items - one other person in corner, occasionally performing small tasks - table cleared only (and incompletely)... Using my lonely planetguide we lunched today at l'Autruche in Arles. What a delight!I personally love it when the chef has decided what I'm getting from what's available on the day. We had nearly raw tuna with fabulous mixed tomatoes followed by their house speciality of beef tartar Rossini with foe gras.OMG! Delicious! The owner also chose us a beautiful... More

Recommended as long as we didn't mind paying a little more, so we expected a little more, obviously. Food turned out to be not as good, quality-wise, as in previous two restos visited. When the patronne seemed to be interested in whether we'd enjoyed our meal, we told her, and found out that there had been a slight problem with... More

We stumbled on this great restaurant just off the main tourist strip. Run by a husband and wife team, it has a simple fixed menu - daube of beef with mashed potato, that changes regularly. They modified the main to suit our 9 year old and she devoured it. The service provided was superb, a bottle of wine was opened... More

L'autruche only has one fixed menu at lunch, but it was great. The menu the day we were there was gizzard salad (don't cringe, it was great), duck and a lemon tart. Wonderful setting in the old city of Arles.
