'No' to the Cours Mirabeau?

Aix is famous for its grand fountain and the people-watching along the Cours Mirabeau. If you have been-there-done-that or just want a pass on being amongst the crowds, here is a charming little corner of Aix that will whet your whistle and appease your appetite. Go to the end of the Cours... read more

We called in to this restaurant around 10pm after having been to the cinema. We didn't feel like a big meal, just a glass of red wine and something light to eat. We perused the menu, did't see anything we felt like eating so we asked if it was possible for them to make up a cheese plate, even though... More

Our dinner was good enough, though indistinguished. Service was indifferent and inattentive--our waiter disappeared for long periods of time. For the price you can do better elsewhere in Aix.

I don't know if it was the particular staff the night we were there, or what. I've eaten at a lot of French restaurants in Provence, speak some French, understand French restaurant 'rules', am very patient, and have always been treated well even though I'm sure I don't look French. But I have never been treated quite like this. Three... More

Staying in an adjacent air BnB, L'Epicerie is our neighborhood restaurant. The tables sit outside around a fountain. On Sunday nights live music serenades the guests. The restauranteur busily shuttles bottles of wine for the evening's meal from the fridge to the grocery store of the same name at the head of the square. Food is fresh, well-seasoned, and delivered... More

I usually think of "ormeaux" as abalones, but in this case it is a kind of tree and there are, or were, 3 of them on this charming little plaza near the Église Madeleine in central Aix-en-Provence. There is a fine example of one of the famous Aix fountains in the middle of the plaza, where the restaurant L'Épicerie chills... More

Lovely setting, food was disappointing. Chicken was dry, salad was good, rice mushy. Go to the smaller restaurant the other side of the fountain for wonderful meal.

My partner and I were strolling through Aix en Provence and stumbled upon this restaurant nestled in a quiet courtyard. There's inside and outside seating, but I recommend sitting outside and taking in the atmosphere. There's a small fountain in the middle of the courtyard with a giant bottle of Aix rose' chilling in a bucket. What I liked about... More

We were recommended this restaurant from our hotel and it was well worth the visit. It's a must to make a reservation , as it is quite small. There is a limited menu but the preparation and presentation is great. Fresh, in season produce is used and explanation of dishes by the friendly waiter was much appreciated. We dined inside,... Nice little restaurant with limited choice of mainly smaller dishes (which is great for lunch). You can sit outside under trees, quiet. We had a tuna tartar and a burrata, both very nice. The service was friendly, we cannot share some other opinions that it was arrogant. Also when paying inside, we were asked how we liked it, how the... More
