I usually think of "ormeaux" as abalones, but in this case it is a kind of tree and there are, or were, 3 of them on this charming little plaza near the Église Madeleine in central Aix-en-Provence. There is a fine example of one of the famous Aix fountains in the middle of the plaza, where the restaurant L'Épicerie chills... More

Lovely setting, food was disappointing. Chicken was dry, salad was good, rice mushy. Go to the smaller restaurant the other side of the fountain for wonderful meal.

My partner and I were strolling through Aix en Provence and stumbled upon this restaurant nestled in a quiet courtyard. There's inside and outside seating, but I recommend sitting outside and taking in the atmosphere. There's a small fountain in the middle of the courtyard with a giant bottle of Aix rose' chilling in a bucket. What I liked about... More

We were recommended this restaurant from our hotel and it was well worth the visit. It's a must to make a reservation , as it is quite small. There is a limited menu but the preparation and presentation is great. Fresh, in season produce is used and explanation of dishes by the friendly waiter was much appreciated. We dined inside,... Nice little restaurant with limited choice of mainly smaller dishes (which is great for lunch). You can sit outside under trees, quiet. We had a tuna tartar and a burrata, both very nice. The service was friendly, we cannot share some other opinions that it was arrogant. Also when paying inside, we were asked how we liked it, how the... More

We ordered 2 chicken burgers, which we did not like and returned it because the chickens were so stiff, it was not possible to slice them. We received a plate to share instead. We still had the chicken burgers at the check, we asked the waiter to kindly remove it. The waiter said it was strange to ask such thing,... More

My wife and I really liked this little gem. We like places that are off the beaten path, have less tourists, and has more locals. This place fit that bill nicely. The food was delicious and prepared with fresh local produce. The flavors were authentic and the portions were just right. The wine was excellent. The service was excellent. Although... More

We enjoyed our meal and fortunately had lots of time and a generous budget as lunch with two glasses of the house rose (which was quite good) came to about $70 for two chicken burgers---granted they were good and were accompanied by a small salad and frites. But even though we stepped inside first and made sure that we would... More

Great location; lovely square in the old town, with fountain cooling the wine. Good classic food, well served by enthusiastic and helpful staff. Recommended by our very local B&B housekeeper as one of the best two or three in Aix....and he was right. Find it and enjoy!

The beautiful location is the high point. We came across this restaurant without any prior information and decided to risk it, because it was just so tempting to sit in the shaded square on a hot day. The plat du jour was a fish filet on a bed of multicoloured tomatoes with a tomato dressing, tarted up with the name... More
