Very cosy and friendly atmosphere in a stone cellar

Great Service by a regional wine enthusiast, very good food. We stopped over with a friend for a dinner of catch-up and the setting has been perfect for an evening of old souvenirs and new pleasantries. Very good Duck dish that melt in the mouth without any bitter note.

I went in this restaurant yesterday after found it on tripadvisor in the first position. The expecations was very high but I realized that food was good but not execellent compared with price. The fish was cooked not so well. Dessert and first plate was very good and as well the wine. The service very good and the location excellent.... More

We loved the ambience the food and the care that was given to us. Superb in every aspect. Our prawn dish with mini delicious ravioli and the duck will be remembered for a long time. U.S.A

Make reservations a few days in advance. Food is priced appropriately. You can easily get lost in the ambience and spend 3 hours here. Everything on the menu is delicious and changes often. Great wine selection. The owner was our server and he was excellent with extensive wine knowledge.

My friend and I have been in Aix for a week and L'Alcove was recommended to us by a family member. Pierre, our host, was a delight, his wine recommendations were superb. The chef, Oliver is very talented and our meals were delicious. I thoroughly recommend you try this restaurant when you come to Aix-en-Provence.

Read the review on Tripadvisor and thought it worth a look. We had not booked but just turned up at Eight. Pierre found us a good table outside and brought us the choices on a blackboard. He explained everything to us and everything was as described. For main course I had slow cooked lamb and my wife had cod. Both... More

This small restaurant is run by Pierre who seems to play host and waiter. He was great and kind enough to sit with us and translate the portable chalk board menu. We had a warm shrimp salad followed by bull steak and ratatouille. My husband had duck as his entree. Food was good but our favorite part was the delicious... More

L'Alcove was recommended by our host, Francoise, and we really enjoyed it. Set in a small side street with a few other restaurants nearby, we enjoyed the fixed price menu of three courses while we watched local residents visit outside their apartment and others stroll by. Pierre was a warm and welcoming host and his English is flawless. Highly recommended.

A limited menu is often a good sign and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, an amuse bouche started the evening and we finished with a delicious cheese plate. The owner was a fantastic host and shared his encyclopaedic knowledge of wine with us and made the evening perfect. Chapeau!

After visiting the Tuesday market (on 25th August) at Aix’s Cours Mirabeau, it took a bit of perseverance from the six of us to track down this restaurant, tucked away in a cool ‘typically Aix’ side street. We actually ate on a table partly on the street itself which had very little traffic. It is tiny place run by two... More
