Ranked #67 of 549 restaurants in Aix-en-Provence
Certificate of Excellence 2014
Cuisines: Mediterranean
Dining options: Reservations
Description: This restaurant has just opened and is located in a small alley called "rue Annonerie Vieille" on the right of the rue Bedarrides in the historic centre of Aix-en-Provence. The concept combines a restaurant for lunch, a board of tapas in the evening as well as regular acoustic concerts, literary debates and readings, art exhibitions and a small deco boutique. The Drole d'Endroit also has free wifi and welcomes people throughout the day for a coffee, a cup of tea (the tea list is quite extensive!), a piece of cake or a scone. The cuisine is Mediterranean and focuses on using mostly organic and locally-sourced ingredients. Once a week, the restaurant will also sell some organic vegetable hampers produced by a local farmer.

If we are in Aix at lunch time this is where we like to eat. Atmosphere and welcome is great. The food is always good and the price reasonable. It's not top gourmet food but good wholesome food which fills and satisfies.

Recommended to us by a local (with family connections.) Off the beaten tourist track. A friendly welcome in fluent english and a thorough explaination of the innovative menu. Delicious, satisfying meals. We were extremely pleased and can easily say it's the best meal we've eaten out in a very long time!

Really interesting place this The owners have thought carefully about how they want the restaurant to feel and its a great mix of cool bohemian and industrial chic They have thought carefully about how they want to meet and greet and we felt special as we were shown to our table and introduced thoroughly to the menu by way of... We arrived here almost by coincidence as this restaurant is a little hidden in the old quarter of aix-en-provence. It is well decorated, and is very enjoyable. The service is exceptionally kind, and the food great. Very nice meals, up and beyond the level of a brasserie, and a great price-quality balance. We took the vegetarian dish (although we are... This place was a little hard to find and I would probably wouldn't be able to find it by myself again. Not too many tourist, which was a plus. The food was excellent; and changes seasonally. The patron was very friendly and explained all the dishes in French and English. Lovely bright welcoming decor.

sort of hard to find, on what some in these parts call the 'rue de pisse,' in essentially a tiny alley. The restaurant though is hidden away, all the better, a tiny little terrace is usually set up out front. Very good for the provençal specialties, good fish too. Not a tourist restaurant

We went to this restaurant after having heard many good reviews about it, expecting a good dinner. Very disappointing experience: first, the smile promised in the restaurant description was absent and most importantly the food was pretty bad. The only dish that was above average was the chocolate Moelleux, the rest being either average or bad. I would highly dis-recommend... More

Its not often you find a restaurant that has it all. This place is one of them - aside from its location (which can be a drawback as it is in a small alley that doesn't smell very nice). However, once at the restaurant you'll be pleasantly surprised. The walls are decorated with local artwork - very creative stuff ranging... More
