This restaurant has just opened and is located in a small alley called "rue Annonerie Vieille" on the right of the rue Bedarrides in the historic centre of Aix-en-Provence. The concept combines a restaurant for lunch, a board of tapas in the evening as well as regular acoustic concerts, literary debates and readings, art exhibitions and a small deco boutique. The Drole d'Endroit also has free wifi and welcomes people throughout the day for a coffee, a cup of tea (the tea list is quite extensive!), a piece of cake or a scone. The cuisine is Mediterranean and focuses on using mostly organic and locally-sourced ingredients. Once a week, the restaurant will also sell some organic vegetable hampers produced by a local farmer.

Perfect setting, make the effot to find it as its in the centre of town but down a dead end street

Loved the atmosphere, service was great and food a real surprise. We have eaten at most of the restaurants in Aix now and this is one of the best value places we have found. We keep coming back.

We had to book our table for Drôle d'Endroit having not been able to get in the previous night. The food was very inventive and the flavours were from all over the globe. Staff and owners were delightful and were very helpful when it came to my odd dietary requirements.

A group of us tried out this slightly irreverent restaurant and found it an exciting stylistic change. The decor itself is interesting and the food is excellent. Bring your appetite. Some of the carnivores on the group found today's roast beef offering to be delicious, while the vegetarians enjoyed some of the combination played that were filled with a variety... More

You need to go here! Not easy to find but it is worth while the search. Staff is passionate about food and their restaurant. You need to make a reservation since it is very popular. They serve honest but great food. We enjoyed every bite.

We were recommended this restaurant as non-touristy and off the beaten track so we decided to try it for a surprise get together. Everyone managed to find it located down a rather insalubrious back alley, but once inside it is quite quirky and fun. The staff were helpful and efficient and the food was good. The local wines were well... More

Six of us met here and enjoyed a reasonable meal that was well presented with very helpful English speaking staff. Not gourmet food but adequate especially for a group, as has a number of tables and plenty of staff to serve. The worst part was walking through urine and dog faeces down the narrow alley to get there! Put me... More

If we are in Aix at lunch time this is where we like to eat. Atmosphere and welcome is great. The food is always good and the price reasonable. It's not top gourmet food but good wholesome food which fills and satisfies.

Recommended to us by a local (with family connections.) Off the beaten tourist track. A friendly welcome in fluent english and a thorough explaination of the innovative menu. Delicious, satisfying meals. We were extremely pleased and can easily say it's the best meal we've eaten out in a very long time!
