My husband and I were staying in a bed and breakfast in a suburb of Aix-en-Provence, but wanted to go into the city for dinner. Based on the fantastic TripAdvisor reviews, we visited Le Poivre D'Ane for dinner. The first night we did not have a reservation and luckily we got a table because I would highly recommend making reservations.... More

This restaurant is one of around 30 that crowd this touristy square in Aix. We ended up here following the Lonely Planet guide and what a great choice it turned out to be! There isn't much place to sit on the inside and we took an outside table. The decor and setting (on the outside) was excellent. Occasionally you could... More

This was definately one of our top favorites of all the restaurants we had dined in while both in Provence and Paris. The staff was warm and welcoming and even offered us menus in English. This was very helpful. The food was creative and fresh and I can't rave enough about it. I had the fois gras terrine with langostines... More

The best meal we had in Aix, Modern French. Innovative cuisine. Not overpriced for what you get. Tried to return on a Wed. but restaurant was closed that night.

if not for the reviews onTripadvisor we probably would not have eaten at Le Poivre d'Ane since it was located on the very touristy Forum des Cardeurs. How lucky we were to have read the reviews. We were able to secure a reservation on the square on a lovely October evening. My husband had escargot as a starter, we both... More

The meal was good, but nothing special. We had the tasting menu. The portion is just right. Every course was very good, but nothing was memorable. It tasted like all other "nice" meals we had before. My husband really like the overall experience, include food presentation, food quality, service, and ambient.

We went to Le Poivre D'Ane based on TA reviewer comments and enjoyed it so much that we booked a reservation for the next night before leaving. The food is exceptional and the 3 course fixed price menu provides plenty of choices. Our favorite starters were the Iberian pork filet w sautéed foie gras and the scallops with lobster bisque... We walked past this place and disregarded it, as it had an outdoor terrace, and thought it was the same as the other tourist traps that serve ubiquitous and poorly cooked dishes. Upon further research (read: checked Trip Advisor) we decided to give this place a go. No regrets. Was brilliant. Lovely amuse bouche, delicious three courses and a nice... More

We were lucky to get a reservation a couple hours before dinner. So glad we did!! They give the option to do a la carte, but why bother when it's so much more fun (and a better deal) to do the prix fixe for 37 euro? For our first course my husband had the zucchini and I got the scallops.... More
