Worth stumbling upon

We had been trying to get into various places but as it was Saturday night everywhere was fully booked. We stumbled across this place and it was a real treat. The maître d' was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The food and wine were both good and the portion sizes decent. Décor... read more

Two of us visited on a rather chilly October evening. A warm welcome and an excellent meal, reasonably priced and a good choice of fish dishes. And a pleasant Provencale white wine, what more can one wish for? Recommended!

We almost drowned walking to this restaurant about half a mile from our hotel . When we arrived, dripping wet, our host was at the door ready to assist us as we dried off. His menu had price fixe(30 Eori or 36 Euro with dessert) We ate vegetable soup beef stew cok o van and lemon chicken. The meals were... More

A good variety on the set menu and a very helpful English translation. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. We indulged in 3 courses and every course was a delight. The fried small fish (whitebait) as an entree were delicious. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Not to be missed!

My husband and I had been touring about all day enjoying the beautiful Provence countryside. We found this restaurant by chance as we strolled the streets of the city. What a find! The wait staff was attentive and courteous. Our dining experience was wonderful. I had the pistou soup and lemon chicken. Both were very good.

If you had a Provençal granny, this is what she would have cooked for you - delicious, homely, comforting and satisfying. We went three days running and had different dishes each day. I would have been completely happy with the same dishes on all three days, but it seemed uncreative not to try a variety. The coq au vin was... More

The food, ambiance, and atmosphere in this restaurant are excellent. My wife and I agree this restaurant has the best soup au pisto in Aix. The food is authentic Provencal. The restaurant is at the corner of two very small streets, so be sure to seek out this restaurant. It is a bit more expensive than many of the restaurants... More

Tough restaurant to find as it is tucked way back down a side street! Very cute, though. We ordered a local Bandol wine....Chateau Val D'Arenc (2010) for 42 Euros. My husband liked it...I enjoyed my Bandol that I had earlier in the day, so I guess I had that taste in my mouth. We had the pistuou soup and the... More

Another restaurant that sounded good in the write up (Rick Steves) but that turned out disappointing. There were only other American tourists there and the food was not consistently good. I had an asperagus appetizer I was looking forward to, but the spears were all soggy. Then I chose chicken for my main course, a mistake the 2 times I've... More

Went to Chez Féraud on recommendation of Lonely Planet. In the past few years the Lonely Planet restos have not been that great for me (with exceptions), but I was happy with this one! Got the asparagus with brandade since I love the latter, had no idea it would come in that form on a crostini. Was disappointed when I... More
