This restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays but is certainly well worth the wait if you have to. The value is excellent. I had a three course meal for €27. I started with a goat's cheese crumble with tomato and basil and small lettuce leaves. This was incredibly tasty. Then I had the beef which came with a pile... More

The title 'bistrot' is ideal for this restaurant - it's a cozy place with great ambience. Service is absolutely first rate: the meal beautifully presented and cooked. And a very good wine list - in particular the 1/2 dozen widely ranging wines by the glass. If I had to find any fault, which would be difficult, then it'd have to... More

A great place, charming and not too expensive. The food was amazing. I would love to return as it was beautiful.

We headed out to another place that turned out to be closed for holidays so took a chance at Bistrot de L;Absinthe. We had an extraordinarily pleasant and economical meal that shows that the proprieters here really care about food and its presentation. The escargot were the best we have ever had, Mains (Veal Kidneys and Cod) were really good... More

Well what a find. The best escargots We have ever had - and we have had a few. The beef main meal was terrific. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. A lovely 2009 Bordeaux red topped off a great night. A very excellent little French bistro.

Discovered this little gem on our first night in Poitiers. Tables are quite close together, as previously mentioned, but that's normal, and the noise level was fine. Enjoyed a delicious and refreshing asparagus and smoked salmon salad, and also tasted my husband's escargots in little pots, which were wonderful. The confit de canard with rhubarb was excellent, as was my... More

Popped into this little place for one of the lunchtime specials and what a pleasant surprise. The choice is of course limited on the specials, as with all the local restaurants, but the quality was superb and pudding was a work of art as well as very tasty. Speedy pleasant service and nothing was too much trouble. A very nice... More

Tables close to one another, in the traditional bistro style, delicious, food and amazing value for money for the lunch 'plat du jour' which I highly recommend. The owner is a French-trained English chef (her husband a French chef in his own right). If you are looking for good food in an intimate bistro, you need look no further.

This was our 3rd try to eat at this restaurant - First they were closed on Sunday. Then we were invited over to a friend's house on Monday. So, today was our lucky day. We have been eating a lot of bistro style food and wanted to try what we thought might be a different take on it (Ardoise/Brittany). They... More
