We had not set out to eat here but decided to enter after perusing menus all around the market area. We were a little worried that no one was at the table outside but putting our heads round the door, it was clear that it was already well filled inside with happily eating clientelle. We still... read more

This restaurant is always busy- we were luckily squeezed in at the last moment but, nonetheless, had a very nice table. My rognons de veau were perfectly cooked and my wife's crab followed by a filet de bar was excellent. A good wine list- the wife does the front of house and her husband is the chef- a great combination.... More

Close to the market, in rue Thiers, this popular restaurant, full of mainly locals, is great for lovers of fish and seafood. Our meal was perfectly paced with each course cooked and presented with flair. We especially enjoyed the cocotte of scallops and vegetables and the assiette gourmande for dessert - just the job for anyone finding it hard to... More

We made our booking for 20 cyclists via the web and the communication was very good. It was not an unknown to us as we had eaten there on the previous years tour to La Rochelle. The service was up to its usual excellent standard as was the food. We wanted a set menu for €30 excluding drinks and the... More

We had a fabulous meal in this restaurant serving mainly fish,we ate scallops and a salmon tartare, sea bass on a base of leek, potato and crab, monkfish with ginger and delicious dessert gourmands washed down with a Sancerre. The staff were brisk and efficient on a busy Friday evenings service.

This is probably our sixth visit as we live in the town and the experience is actually getting better. Great food, friendly service and a central location 20 from the back of the market make this our favourite place to eat in town. Fish lovers get a treat but there are options for other tastes too.

Last time we only took a dessert, and this time we were back as we liked this place. And this was a good idea. Very good welcome, we took a starter and main dish (for me cassolette of Scallops, and for my wife a fish). This was very good, tasty, perfectly cooked, and with a good white wine from Fiefs... Had an excellent meal, was glad we had booked as the restaurant was fully occupied and a number of people were turn away at the door. Starters of oysters and tartare salmon were perfect, both of us had delicious mingling for the mains - best meal for a long time.

We wanted to get away from the Port area as we reckoned we would get better food and value near the market. Saw this place during the day and booked for the evening. Even though English was not strong, every effort was made to explain menu. We both had crab starter, very tasty. I had filet steak, which was exceptionally... More

Starters of goat's cheese and fois gras. Steak with mushrooms very tasty. Local fish (name unfamiliar) served in a coconut milk based sauce was most interesting. Apple tart with ice cream and a creme brulee both pretty flawless. All for less than €30 excluding wine. Attentive and charming waiter who struggled manfully to answer all our questions in English of... More
