We had hoped for top class service but I was brought the wrong aperitif, they forgot I had ordered a glass of wine to accompany foie gras and the portions (as noted by others) were on the small side...to add insult the card reader did not function and I had to walk to a sister restaurant to pay the bill...the evening... 7 of us with hearty appetites for dinner. After a day cycling on ile de re we needed fuel, all young and fit. What we got was a good meal, nothing stellar. It was a meal for people who like their portions small and we are not those kind of persons. The lamb for 3 was beautifully cooked and presented... More

We needed a quickish meal as we were picking up a pal from the hospital, the restaurants blackboard menu offered a tempting all in combination, for dinner, including a glass of wine and coffee at e21(great price for a contanceau restaurant). The maitre' d, nice guy, assured us it could be done in the hour, and we were promptly served... More

I booked this restaurant after finding it on the web. It was clearly not an appropriate venue for 20 men who wanted some good food and plenty of wine. In it's defence the food was good but let down by the awful service provided by the waitress. For a group such as ours there should have been two staff who... More

I'm not sure if this restaurant is a training school for the coutanceau chain of restaurants in La Rochelle. The service and standard of food served certainly gave me that impression. Our waitress was extremely rude. She constantly slammed our plates and crockery down on the table. When she arrived with a meal that we had not ordered I asked... More

L'entracte is one of a group of restaurants with the name Coutonceau above the door. I was familiar with Les Flots and just opposite l'entracte Le Comtoir des Voyages. The whole setup which includes several other facilities including a cookery school is very akin to Padstein in the UK with the Rick Stein empire taking over the towns cuisine. Unfortunately... More

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay in La Rochelle. On the first occasion we hadn't booked but it was a quiet Tuesday evening and we had a good welcome. We enjoyed our meal of prawns followed by veal sweetbreads and booked again for three nights later. The second visit was on a Friday evening and it was almost... More

We went to the michellin rated restaurant but could not get a seat because we did not have a reservation. As we re-traced our steps and saw L'Entracte. We were welcomed though we did not have a reservation. We asked for an English menu but they did not have. All is not lost as they had a wonderful waitress who... More

Arrived late in La Rochelle and the restaurant was close to our hotel. Food and service were very good but at the price it should be.

We visited here as a couple on the evening of 1st November, we were a walk-up as we were only staying the one night. The restaurant was busy and celarly had a lot of reservations already which was a good start for us! The waiting staff were friendly and welcoming and the maitre d' helpfully found us a choice of...
