Great moules frittes

This is a small restaurant on Place de la Chaine. We both had mussels in white wine and garlic. Very tasty and great value. I had oysters to start and they were also very good. The place was busy, turning people away which I think is a good sign. Service was excellent. Recommend a visit but book if... read more

A very welcoming, cosy restaurant on a cold, blustery evening. Staff friendly and helpful. The menu should have something for everyone with seafood naturally predominating. Our dishes were excellent, beautifully prepared and presented. Very good value for money, the restaurant can be highly recommended.

Set almost in the shadows of the port entrance towers, Le P'tit Amiral is a very good restaurant in a great location. The nautical theme is very well done and it's worth seeking out amongst the plethora of eateries in the area. It was quiet when I popped in to book a table for 30 minutes later but it was... More

We opted for this restaurant as we had read good reviews about it on Trip Advisor-we were not disappointed. The waiter brought us complimentary bread and a dip so we didn't bother with a starter and opted instead for a 2 course meal at a fixed price.I had hake with a shallot and cream sauce while hubby had cod-both dishes came... We had a nice meal on our first night in La Rochelle. We had the 3 course fixed price menu which was nicely presented and was a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and very helpful. A nice meal and would recommend.

The Good: Service was slick with some very helpful waiters. The price is reasonable and the location is very good. I had beef and chips which was tasty and my partner loved the massive portion of mussels. The Bad: Prawns are served whole (heads and tracks still on) which isn't a massive issue, but is somewhat 80s. The wine selection... More

Loads of places to choose from. Went for this one and really glad we give. Started with Salmon followed by veal, with carafe of house rose. Would go there again. Water really good and kept talking to us in French. Even though we know he could speak English. Just what we wanted. Great food and good value.

Chose this restaurant from a large number available in La Rochelle. We were not disappointed. The place has a very nautical air, pleasantly decorated and spotlessly clean. The staff are very efficient and attentive. The food was excellent. I had Salad des Gesiers followed by Moules/Frites my wife had Moules/Frites followed by Creme Caramel. All excellent dishes and well cooked.... More
