This restaurant is modern, sparkling and delightful. The food was good too. We had a very enjoyable meal that was well presented and beautifully cooked. I believe my husband found it in the Michelin Guide and we looked for it .. almost, but not quite hidden down a side street. Instantly recognisable by its signature purple and gray façade. well... Having found Le Thiers Temps (Tripadvisor's #1 rated restaurant) to be full, we ended up going across the road to Jules. It was a rainy night and at that stage shelter rather than culinary excellence was our number one priority. My first impression of the bistro was that it was a few notches too bright for my liking. Consisting of... More

We ate here three times during our stay in La Rochelle and only wished we had discovered it sooner. It is a small, modern restaurant near to the market with an obvious local following and a very friendly proprietor. The menu is interesting and the food is excellent. It gets very busy so it is worth booking in advance.

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance although the name did ring a bell from Trip Advisor. Beautiful restaurant, food and top class service. The standard of food at the price will not be bettered anywhere. We will be back. Great end to a 10 day trip to France. Highly recommend.

Jules speaks at least two languages very well - English and French and runs a terrific kitchen. We were a table of four and as it were we ordered four separate entrees and four different plates as such we had a great sample of what Jules was offering for the evening. The food varied from a lobster salad with a... More

Fantastic food, reasonable prices, and the most professional and courteous staff we encountered during our entire visit to France are the high points of La Cuisine de Jules. The only low point was that we were unable to stay in La Rochelle long enough to enjoy more of their delightful Cuisine. The quality and presentation of the food was perfect,... More

La rochelle is heaving with people this time of year, especially around the port area. La cuisine de jules is near the market away from the masses, although still busy. We were recommended a visit here by the top restaurant nearby as it was full and were not disappointed. After my first mouthful I was in heaven! The decor is... More

Brilliant experience from beginning to end. We had been recommended this restaurant because it wasn't by the boats in La Rochelle but in the rapidly transforming market area. We arrived slightly early but were welcomed to an aperitif while staff got the show on the road. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. The wine list was French (well it would... More

First of all, La Rochelle is on the ocean, and this restaurant is the proper place you feel it. The oysters were just the sort you dream of when coming to the seaside, also the rest of menu - we obviously preferred seafood. What made our lunch really unforgettable - was the service of Mr. Jerome, the real housekeeper, who... More
