This restaurant was quite a mixed experience. The menu was of Antigua that evening and was very different. The execution of the dishes was quite good. The service was I felt was not so much formal as very 'clipped'. Wine list was quite expensive. However what was unforgiveable was being asked if we wanted water & a bottle of Badoit... More

We had spent four days in La Rochelle and eaten very well at other restaurants in this area of the town, so for our last evening we opted for Le Comptoir - and what a meal it was! The menu was influenced by the cuisine of Martinique (I see from their website that the particular cuisine changes according to the... More

Excellent food, well prepared and presented. We liked the wine advice for each course. OK this was a little pricey, but we got the chance to try different wines with each course, a bit of a gimmick, but what the hell we were on holiday and it made the meal.

Had their lunch menu. Good value for money(in comparison to other nearby restaurants) and some good innovative dishes.. Pickled sardine starter was a good start. However the main of cod and coconut milk risotto was the star. The evening menu based on Martinique looked good also.

My family ate here last week. The food is good, maybe a little 'fine dining' for our kids, but still enjoyable.

This was a very smart restaurant, and one to visit for a special occasion. The food was excellent, with an Asian twist. The wine was too expensive, nothing under 30 euros a bottle and so we opted for a half-bottle at 20 euros. They were happy for our dog to sit under the table and brought him a bowl of... More

From the time we entered the restaurant, until the time we left we were continually harassed by the staff to buy extra we did not want. The quality of the food was poor, portion sizes not fit for a mouse, coupled with overpriced screw-cap wine. We suffered two courses plus a bottle of wine and two coffee for 97 euro... More

In a street with a couple of dozen restaurants you are spoiled for choice. We chose this one as it was recommended in the Dorling Kindersley France guide book. Service was intially OK and we went for the set menu at €32. Choice was limited to 3 starters, 2 mains and 2 puddings. The servings were small and some were... More

Went to this restaurant during a recent trip to La Rochelle. Went for the fixed menu at just under thirty euro each which is a little dearer than neighboring restaurants. Have to say limited selection for each course (three starters two main courses and two desserts). Chose the option of having a different wine with each course at twenty one... More

Great place for a business lunch. The seafood was wonderfully fresh and beautifully presented. Great choice of wine - grateful for the waiter's recommendation. Good price too for the quality.
