an ok place in the centre

a very ok place for an easy meal, a coffee, snacks, a glass of wine in the evening. not good for breakfast (no cafes really are, have to go to a bakery or eat in the hotell), but suitable for a quick lunch.

Good quality, tasty food. Well presented and beautifully cooked. We had the set menu which was great value. Lovely place, equally good for a quick coffee as it is for a leisurely lunch. The service was "relaxed and informal", acceptable if you aren't in a hurry but could be frustrating for a quick lunch. Of course the French do not... More

My wife had the Menu of the day, Terrine, Brochette of Hake, Tart Tatin, I had Prawns, followed by Magret de Canard and ice-cream to finish. All were delicious, though the terrine was not as tasty as some can be. Service excellent and we were not rushed. A glass of Sancerre and a 50cl bottle of Bordeaux with Cognacs to... More

We visited with friends and we all enjoyed our food. Two of us had the scallops and prawn linguine which was really good. The pate starter was pretty good and well presented. We had a couple of bottles of wine and in all it came to 100 euros for four with three starters, four main courses and two desserts. Couldn't... More

The Globe is located by main round about and restaurants/cafes in central Cognac. The set menu is 14 euros each for three courses in evening. Wine is reasonably priced and has some choices.

How can you get a burger so wrong. Start with stale bread. Under cook the meat ordered as well done so it's pink under a thin crust. Cover with cheese to hide the signs. Add a dollop of home made tomato sauce they called Tartar. Pour over the lot with gravy. Sprinkle on some herbs. Don't peal the potatoes but... More

Service: horrible Food: even worse We ate here today and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. They put pickles on their pate, which as a french woman is insulting. I ordered bavette (which is like a flank steak) and it was the worst bavette with french fries I've ever had in the world (and I'm... More

Popped in here during blues passion festival. Just wanted a single dish for a late lunch. Decided on baked camembert and duck and egg cassolette. They were very filling and delicious. Sold wine by the pichet and air conditioning very welcome on a very hot day

Having plodded through Cognac and being a little disappointed. We were looking for somewhere to just take a seat have a leisurely drink and partake in a snack. We plumped for Le Globe as it had well shaded area tables and wasn't totally deserted. The waitress appeared a little fierce at first but nonetheless took our drinks order and returned... More

A popular place, in the heart of the city. Tasty food, nice interior. But to much to do for the vaiters the evening I visited
