Great experience

Having dinner in a cave is a great experience, especially for children. We really enjoyed this, although I felt the dinner and wine were mediocre. It was also too heavy on the foue bread. With that said, I would definitely go back. The staff was very friendly, and they also offer visits of the... read more

My friend and I stopped by here while wandering through France. It was a time they happened to be closed, but we saw one man who was there and he was kind enough to open up the caves for us to wine taste quickly! Very friendly, and so kind of him (perhaps helpful in part that my friend is French... More

This is a fascinating place for all ages. Learning how mushrooms are cultivated and how snails are raised was educational for us. The dining room has a couple of fixed menus. You can request salad as well. All of the food is an adventurebecause it includes specialties of the region: breads, cheeses, style of preparation. It is well worth the experience.... More

The restaurant we had chosen was Closed, but a helpful local resident irected us to this great place with the admonition that we would not be dissappointed...We were not. Being with French relatives and speaking French we not being treated as travelers....There were 4 selections on the menu from 20 to 24 euros, the higher priced included escargots or duck....Our... The restaurant is located deep in the cave on the left before you reach the small areas the mushrooms and snails are grown. We opted out of a guided tour and wandered around ourselves after which we enjoyed a fabulous 5 course tasting menu. We were totally bowled over, the food was so delicious and the experience of enjoying a... More

If you like mushrooms and are not afraid of being in a cave (albeit quite a large one!), this is a great little restaurant. The wine served with the menu options is excellent and the multi course meal is very good. If you are looking for something different while you are visiting the Chateaux of the Loire valley, this is... More

We wanted to try foue bread & this place was 5 minutes from where we were staying. We went on a Friday night & it was heaving so really glad that I had booked. We weren't sure what to expect but once we had walked the 100 metres to the restaurant via the caves, we were met by tables set... More

The Foué is a small pita type bread only found in the Anjou area. This restaurant specializes in baking them fresh and the menu in centered around them coming out of the wood fired oven. The Restaurant is located deep inside the caves and its a fun walk to get to. Beware of low ceilings and damp bare rock walls.... More

you would never see a restaurant like this in the uk, enviromental health would have a field day, you eat in a cave, literally, everything is cooked in the cave with you, very busy restaurant but it is a must try, off the beaten track, but it would complete any trip

A friend and I visited simply because we thought the caves were interesting from a Lonely Planet article and we decided to have lunch. The meal was fantastic and a great value for 25 Euros. The just-picked-in-the-cave mushrooms were incredible (best tasting mushrooms I've ever had) and I was stuffed by course 2 of the 4 course meal. I'd love... More
