Excellent!

This restaurant in Saumur offers French cuisine with an original touch. We chose the menu of 29 euro (entrée-plat-dessert) and we were delighted. just had dinner at L'Aromate tonight on the recommendation of our B&B's hosts, hands down the best meal we've had in France so far (5 days now). the food is French, but with an slight Asian twist, which gives the food a very inventive and delightfully surprising explosion of flavours. we had 2 €21 and 1 €29 menus, portions were... This was recommended by our B&B hosts at the Casanova. Service very good. Presentation and flavour excellent. Great value for money.

Wednesday evening before a trip to Le Cadre Noir display. Poor choice in Saumur. L'Escargot ferme. L'Alchemist ferme. This restaurant was handy so we checked the menus on the Internet and booked. The restaurant was very hot and the seats very uncomfortable. There is nowhere to sit for a drink. We were only shown the €29 menu whereas the French... More

The lady in our hotel recommended L'Aromate and what a treat we had in store for us. The food was without the nicest we have had in France over the last two summers. We had chicken with ginger for our main course and it was delightful. Our desserts (nougat ice-cream for me and chocolate cake for my wife) were superb.... More

We stayed in Saumur for 4 nights and had dinner at this small, but fantastic restaurant, and it was my favorite. The menu is only in French, but the host could speak English well and explained everything. Go for the set 3 course menu, it is great value for money, considering the quality of food. I had my best dessert... More

We did not have a reservation, but luckily were seated at a cosy little table! It was possible to see the chefs working in the kitchen. Many beautifully presented dishes kept on rolling out of the kitchen to the diners! We took the set menu at 21€ each. I chose the Terrine de saumon on a bed of leeks for... More

We all had the fixed price lunch menu 19€ ,there is also one at 15€. each course was beautifully presented and they all tasted superb . This restaurant in my opinion is one of the best in Saumur. I Recommend that you make a reservation as it gets very busy. Extremely good value.

The restaurant was full and by reservation only from what it seems, it was a Wednesday evening so mid-week always a good sign. There were two couples who sadly had to eat elsewhere because of no tables available. This is the 2nd visit to the L'aromate and it did not disappoint, the Gratine a l'oignon was delicious followed by everyone's... More

Food was great, really good, but the service was very, very slow. We got the menus quickly enough, but then had to wait for long periods before we got our entree, between entree and main, and between main and dessert. Food is absolutely delicious, so if you have the time it's worth the wait.
