Tiny place right off main street. Service was great, friendly, and personal. Not at all stuffy. Highlight was the amazing food. One of us had escargot - great, but anything with mushrooms is outrageously good - the Mushroom Risotto starter was to die for. Main dishes were great - we had scallops (small dish but excellent), rack of lamb, and... More

Competitively priced menu (25 Euros for three courses) and reasonably priced wine list. Unsurprisingly, snails are a house speciality. But everything else was really good too: creamy risotto, succulent pink lamb and a rich chocolate pot with pistachio ice cream. Friendly and knowledgeable service (taught me how to deal with snails properly and advised well on wine choice). Good ambience-... More

L'Escargot was recommended to us by Thierry and Yolaine at Chateau de Verrieres. We found we were warmly welcomed upon arrival and the service continued to be faultless throughout the evening. Our food was superb and the recommended wines complemented perfectly. The atmosphere was relaxed and all in all, it made for a lovely dining experience. Highly recommended.

It is hard to get use to the fact that you have no "elbow room" and people bring their dogs to restaurants. Other than those two things the food was excellent and the service was good.

The restaurant were friendly and accommodating - although fully booked, they re-arranged tables to make space for our table of 4. Delicious food at sensible prices, where the wine list named-checked the producers which is always a good sign.

This long established restaurant never fails to impress. It is located in a quiet road just outside the city centre, resulting in good parking if travelling by car. Smallish and not in the least pretentious, it is always busy, a good sign, the night we ate, it was full so would always advise pre-booking. At 25 euros our menu consisted... More

As soon as we arrived we felt at home at this charming French restaurant. The night started well with an aperitif of Saumur sparkling with peach liqueur. This was followed by yummy risotto and serves of lamb and duck for le plat. Desserts of soufflé glaces and trio of assorted ice cream were also a good way to end the... More

Snail decor and very good ones to eat ! The little restaurant was a bit soulless and drab, but the staff very attentive and the food decent. Might have been more fun to eat in the busy centre.
