Good traditional french food with a great selection of wines backed up with good service. Excellent value

5 of us went there for dinner and not one of us finished the meal. A big disappointment and a mushy oily plate of vegetables and undercooked meat that didn't taste fresh...odd since the place is 10 steps from the Wednesday market in the square.

We have lived in France for 15 years and this is the only restaurant in which I have sent food back to the kitchen. We ate with friends and frankly had my wife and I been on our own we would have walked out.Four of us had starters which arrived with the main course for our fifth member! That was... More

we landed in the beautiful saumur late and headed to the first restaurant that was recommended to us there - all the guidebooks suggest so! No. 1 in 2 books...what could be wrong with that? We found the restaurant in the nearby square in a quaint part of the town. It looked inviting, if i a little dimly lit. We... More

We arrived here 27th of September2 adults and two small dogs. Sat at a table near the door on the outside area. Asked for water for the dogs as it was a very hot day. Told no water yet asked to order our drinks first. I should have left at this point as after all we are in France and... More

Asked to move table, for no apparent reason. Waited 10 minutes for a menu....as did 4 other tables near us, and there were only people at 25% of the tables Waiter was very rude Menu was unnecessarily complicated Every couple of minutes you would get a whiff of sewage Left after 15 minutes, got fed up with waiting and the... This restaurant's don't-care attitude made for a horrendous dining experience. The servers were rude, and their service as a whole was horrible. As for the food, it was mediocre at best.

Six of us, including two children, enjoyed a family lunch here; sitting outside on the pavement. The typically French town square provided an atmospheric and interesting setting. Service was a little slow, the number of tables outside presented a challenge for the three waiting staff, but we most certainly did not wish to rush a relaxed lunch so it was... More

This restaurant was recommended in the DK guide to France, so we wanted to try it out. It was on a week-day in August at noon and there were 5 of us, all French-speaking adults. The service was poor because there were only 2 servers for the whole restaurant and terrace dining area. No manager in sight to help out,... More

One of the best meals we have had since arriving in France. Had the rabbit and pidgeon; both were delicious. Service was helpful with translation help where necessary. Wine suggestion was perfect.
