This is a stunning institution that should be on every visitor's must see list. The location in the square is lovely but the interior is fabulous. I had a simple seafood salad and glass of rose for lunch but could not resist a dessert as well. Given the reputation, the price was reasonable.

Six of us chose La Cigale for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were lucky to get in without a reservation as its a very popular destination. The first thing you notice when the Maitre D leads you to your table is the stunning interior of gilded tile work and frescoed ceilings. The second thing you notice is the... More

We visited the Cigale for a lunch and were blown away by the gorgeous belle époque décor. I think the restaurant itself is worth the visit even without having anything to eat! They had a very reasonable formule de midi, with generous and tasty portions. Very good experience.

Classic French Brasserie in Nantes. Great architecture and good location. Service good, food very good. Wine list was more than ok. I love the very French brasseries with their great architecture and good service and food.

The restaurant had a wide selection of menus with very tasty food at a reasonable price. The wine selection was also excellent. The desserts were pricy but worth every cent.

Restaurant recommended by our hotel. Amazing Art Deco decoration, they ran out of lobster and then tried to give us the small sea food platter as it was easier for the waiting staff to deal with. Repeatedly had to ask to try and get water and bread. Finally told at the end of evening that they can't order taxis !!... More

The restaurant is historic and very pretty. The food was only average as was the service. Take a walk at night. The lighting is pretty. We wouldn't return on our next visit.

We had heard about this restaurant but as this was our first visit to Nantes and we were on foot we hadn't actually thought we would come across it plus we did not have a reservation . We had been walking for quite some time perusing menus along the way and happened to turn a corner and there it was.... More

The decor is stunning, a beautifully restored restaurant from 1895. It was one of the few places open on a Sunday so we took advantage of it. The food was great; but service was a bit slow.

Unique atmosphere in this remarkably renovated early 20th century restaurant. The decor is amazing. However, service is OK and the food is not as distinctive as the place. Still a great place to have afternoon tea or to stop for a drink outside meals. We live nearby and still fall for it once in a while.
