Went in to see the decoration of a 19th century, did not expect to get a seat as I was not dressed as well as the rest of the clients. Can get very expensive. I got a menu 18 euro's Soup, duck roti and crème brûlée, the cheapest on the menu. Excellent. the service was also good. If you want... More

Okay, we only ate breakfast, but you have to at least do that because the interior is so beautiful. I must have taken 20 pictures of the tile work. With your breakfast you get bread (of course) served with butter, apple butter, strawberry jam, and caramel; all in little pots. Yes, caramel. On bread. For breakfast. We bought some jars... More

We atein la cigale in Nantes and had a special evening. The restaurantis overlooking a beautiful square opposite the Opera. Staff were efficient and courteous. There is an extensive menu which ranges from a three course dinner for euros 18.50 to euros 180 approximately. The wine range from good value to expensive. I had the 18.5o menu and my husband went... We opted for a late lunch from the fixed price menu with a carafe of house wine. You sit in an amazing tiled restaurant which although a little tired around the edges still has a fantastic charm. But it does not stop there the food was fantastic too, with the dessert of a large creme brulee to die for. Very... More

Iconic place, OK for tourists, looking for a decorum and "brasserie française ambiance", but also ready to have very basic french cuisine in the plate.

Apparently Jean-Louis Trintignant said this was the most beautiful brasserie in the world. Not sure I'd agree, but it is certainly quirky, intriguing, indeed a bit over-the-top with slightly lurid colourful tiles, but definitely not to be missed. I had the €29 set menu. The monkfish carpaccio starter was ok,the rare tuna main course good, as was the chocolate desert.... More

Beautiful is the first word coming to my mind thinking back. The details all around you, the decoration step back in time is great, something I have only ever seen in the food halls of harrods in London. Busy, always busy. Even though the place is full of old style and elegance people do not dress up at all, except... More

This famous restaurant/brasserie is as gorgeous as described. It is crowded, day and night, with efficient waitstaff hustling around (but our gentleman was new - we had to ask for bread). But the food was not great - an appetizer meant to share, had 3 different dishes on it, and all 3 were very mediocre. The main course fish dishes... More

Need a place to meet friends and have a chin-wag over a cup of coffee? Then look no further. This is the archetypal 'fin de siécle' cafe with rich elaborate sumptuous interior. We popped in for a quick coffee and were still there hours later. It just forces you to relax and chat. Coffee, croissants and little toasts were excellent... More

The decoration was quite something and worth the visit. We were quite pleasantly surprised with the decent quality food too. The service was a tad slow. The desserts were distinctively well done.
