Well, I wanted to have a good steak while in Normandie. It was probably my mistake ordering a sirloin, it was of a standard size but not soft at all. Sitting outside and watching the people passing by was fine a sort of compensation for the food. Yeah, and the vine was good

We happened on this restaurant on our visit to Rouen. The waiter became friendly and service was good. More importantly the food was wonderful. We shared a first course if sweetbreads in mustard sauce. The simply melted in our mouths. Then we had the pike (pollard) and the quenelles. I particularly like the quenelles which were light and flavorful. What... More

Having not long arrived in Rouen we enquired about making reservations at this restaurant as we were walking past only to be told it was closed Sunday evening and all day Monday. Looking a well presented restaurant we changed our minds and decided to eat there and then. We opted to sit indoors as it was not shaded outside for... More

We stopped to look at the menu outside this restaurant and were told by a local couple who were just going in that it was excellent. They were right. We had a delicious meal - both enjoying the very reasonably priced fish of the day. We noticed that one of our neighbours ordered a second dessert, neither of us could... More

We spent a week in this quaint village in Normandy as we did day trips to the WWII monuments, St Michel and followed Monet around to where he often painted in areas such as Honfluer, Etretat etc. Each day we would return to the Chateau and then go down to the village to eat at Auberge St-Maclou! What a treat.... More

The food was, by and large, excellent. No fixed price menu, so the cost ended up being fairly high. As for entrees, the fois gras was the best we have had anywhere and the vol au vent (pastry with escargots) was also great. Main courses were very good, although the quenelle were light and fluffy as they should be, the... More

The food was absolutely divine - I had the most perfectly cooked scallops. If I had to be picky the only flaw is that the desserts were a bit too large and heavy. The place is also lovely and the general atmosphere pleasant. The waiter was very very helpful. However, it felt like he was trying to upsell at every... More

As we sat down, the menu handed to us was written in French which is fine. However my friend did not understand much at all. There were things I also did not understand so we asked the waiter if he could speak English. His reply was " you are in France, you should know French", sure, but i'm not fluent... More

We had only one evening in Rouen and didn’t want to spoil it by dining in the random spot. Relying on Tripadvisor we went to Auberge Saint Maclou. It might be not the best place in town, but we really enjoyed our dinner. The most striking experience was baba au rhum for desert. Baba was brought in a deep plate... More

Best dinner I have in Rouen. Great Foie Roti, Excellent Tartare, perfectly dressed. Delicious dessert. Nice informal environment. Adequate choice for wine by the glass, Tried three, all of them good, especially the pinot noir. Definitively recommended
