Lovely Dining Room

La Couronne is located in the market square with several indoor dining rooms as well as a patio. (Suggest ground floor dining room which is quite charming.) Overall the food is good as is the service. The prix fixe menus offer the best value.

I got there towards lunch and he reception was great. Eating at this place has its own rituals. Auberge la couronne" is the oldest in france, dating back to 1345. So the people here watched " Joan of arc burn at the stake in 1431, on the 30th of may in the central market where the auberge is located since... More

Had been in France for several days and disappointed with the food. Wondering what all the fuss was about with French cooking. Found out at this restaurant. Appetizer was spectacular, entree beef very good and desert was superb. All for 25 Euros. Highly recommend.

House specialty sold out, half hour to deliver aperatifs, great meal delivered at snail's pace with 'tude that would make any French server cringe. Was it worth it, probably not.

Good afternoon Tomnbean. Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am saddened to read that the service wasnt up to what you expected. Especially as you have given us an amazing five stars for food. It is true tough that La Couronne is not a restaurant where the service will ever be rushed. We are looking at our... More

This is a fine dining restaurant with some classic retro menu items such as Dover Sole Meuniere and pressed duck. Service was old school perfect and the wine list extensive. I could not really find fault with anything.

Good afternoon Driller Burlington. Thank you very much for your kind comments. You are right there are some "classic" dishes on offer at La Couronne. You mentioned the Dover sole and the Duck (raised near rouen at Duclair) which are bestsellers but there is also the Porc's feet which you find anywhere else in Rouen and very delicious too! thank... We visited for lunch on a Sunday and were really impressed. Great choice, attentive waiters and tasty food beautifully presented. They also welcomed our 2 small dogs too. The restaurant itself is the oldest auberge in France. It is quirky, but well situated and worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner. The service was friendly, the food was really nice (we had a beef rib for two, very tender, tasty and cooked as ordered). Wine was good too. Overall great experience.

Our ship stopped in Rouen and after the obligatory city tour, we decided to have lunch in Rouen, a gorgeous town! Our tour ended at the market square and there were half a dozen restaurants nearby. It was early (before noon) so we had ample opportunity to study the menus of each before deciding on La Couronne and what a... More

We visited here towards the end of our holiday, and wanted to visit somewhere a bit more upmarket. This restaurant certainly delivered. We ordered from the €35 menu, but also had an aperitif, a very nice bottle of Sancerre and digestifs for after - the quality of the drinks were superb The food was excellent. For starters we had oysters,... More

My wife and I just ate there tonight. Actually the food was very good and the service attentive. We each ordered from the top fixed price menu at 49 Euro and between us had three glasses of wine [12 Euro each]. The check correctly totalled 134 Euro. Then came the surprise as the waiter repeatedly insisted that "the tip was... More
