The "La Couronne", this restaurant is not of a superior or top quality as they claim they are, the bill for two was over 200 Euros which we were more then happy to pay for a quality meal in a quality restaurant in France. The waiter was arrogant and rude, the wine waiter lacked knowledge, (when asked for a recommendation... More

Good afternoon Robert. I am saddened to read that your evening with us wasnt the great evening out it is for most. i will certainly investigate this with our duty manager. I find it odd that the waiter was rude, as we have very very little staff turn over at La Couronne. Actually most have been with us over ten... More

Dreadful. A great building with a wonderful atmosphere is let down by very slow service, tasteless food and an erroneious bill. Having failed to deliver the te and coffee despite waiting nearly an hour, they still included them on the bill and added an additional meal which wasn't ours. 3 hours for a disappointing meal is way too long. check... Good afternoon Guy. Thank you for taking the time to write a review of La Couronne. I am very sad to read that the meal was not up to what you expected. As much as we do not want to rush our customers out of the restaurant i agree that an hour for your tea to reach your table is... More

Where do I start....? So nice to be out of Paris, where Parisians can be a lot like New Yorkers - I'm sorry but any city in the world is the same and those that think the French arent too friendly to foreigner just have it wrong and need to come to this fine establishment. Our waiters, Thomas (a.k.a. Jeff... More

Hello LCHAND, thank you very much for your kind words. I am printing your message to show to Thomas. He has been with us for a long time now and last year he was promoted to assistant head wine waiter. He is now responsible for our great wine cellar. I am delighted to hear that you had a great time. Went there for a celebration occasion with my husband and we had a great time. I love this restaurant because of its history and its ambience. As for the food I must say not more not less than food at this price range. Reading some negative comments on this site I realize maybe we were lucky as we went there... More

Very nice place with good food and service. The oldest 'auberge' in France in a historical place was, for me the best Restaurant I visited in Rouen

We had lunch at this amazing place just across the church of Joan of Arc, which exists since 1345! We ordered foie gras, a grilled rib of beef and a beef fillet. We washed it all down with a bottle of Chateau Carcannieux. Everything was delicious and the service was professional and polite. Don't miss this restaurant if you are... More

My wife and I went to La Couronne in Rouen for lunch. A very old building - the oldest inn in France - with a beautiful decoration. The food was excellent, especially the "Mille feuille", the pastry so thin that it is almost transparent! We had ham and cheese feuillade and oysters as starters and dorade and guinea fowl as... Who can resist a visit to the oldest 'auberge' in France when in Rouen? My advice is to not even try. What started out as a curiosity visit ended up being a superb dining experience, which while not cheap, was excellent value. We tackled the EUR49.00 menu - four courses plus a mis en bouche and petites fours to complete... More

We have been traveling through Normandy and wanted to fine where Julia C dined. What a disappointment. The food was horrible. Cold and tasteless. The head waiter was so rude. I'm terribly sorry for your disappointement and i will definitly have a word with our head waiter. This really doesnt sound like him. I find it strange you found the food horrible. it is possible that a meal wasnt prepped correctly (unfortunatly it does happen sometimes) but our head chef only works with the best local producers (most of them...
