We were very disappointed with this bistro which had been recommended to us by our hostess in rouen. They did not seem to care about our custom despite the booking being made on our behalf by a regular local user. We were greeted with a grunt and escorted to a table for two deep back in a corner of the... More

We were recommended this chic little restaurant by our B&B in Rouen. Although we passed many other interesting restaurants en route, we were glad to find Gill Cote Bistro The menu was simple, offering a choice of four starters, mains and desserts on the table d'hôte menu, but a more extensive a la carte was available. We opted for two... More

We made a reservation two hours before the start of the service. Don't confond the Bistro Gill with the starred Gill restaurant. It is a totally different concept. Le Bistro Gill offers traditional frenche bistro cuisine, with a modern flavour. We were not thrilled about it, but enjoyed the evening.

After doing the march around the marche, and reading the reviews we popped in and made a booking about 45 mins before service started at 7.30. We were given the window seat and happily ate through the menu. Great French food with a contemporary twist. Loved the juniper berries on my entree! Good food that didn't blow the budget- heartily... We stayed overnight in Rouen and took a walk looking for somewhere to eat. We'd had look on TA and decided to head towards the area where many of the restaurants are. It was quite busy but we managed to get a table here. The service and food was excellent and I recommend it highly. The only downside was the... More

We enjoyed 2 evening meals at this small bistro. The food was typically French and good value. The only real downside was the lack of air conditioning on 2 blisteringly hot days in July - but then I suppose we could have searched out one that had!!

We walked around the square on a monday night, wondering which ones were a tourist trap and which restaurant weren't, when we came across this little quiet modern bistro. The bistro soon filled up with locals and tourists equally, and we were surprised at the high quality of food at 22€ for 2 courses. There was limited choice on the... More

I came here for dinner twice and both times had an excellent meal. Traditional French favorites with a fresh and modern twist, asparagus with eggs & sauce, porc in jus with rice, salmon tartare, chicken with fresh pasta & wine jus. I don't understand why this place isn't packed to the rafters!

We were lucky enough to secure a window table where we were served by Florent. He was helpful and patient in explaining each of the dishes to us. His recommendations were on the money. Would definitely try to book here again.

Nice decor but lighting a bit too bright, made me feel it was closing time and they'd put the lights on to clean up. The food was worse than average. I was served very very overcooked tagliatelle which was insipid in taste and falling apart as it was so overcooked. It was so bad I left all of the pasta.... More
