Excellent food and ambiance

Very welcoming. Waiter very accommodating to the extent of letting my husband have a "taster" of tripe! Very good value. Look forward to tripe on my next visit. Well done. You deserve every success!

We booked late for lunch New Year's Day 2015 for 6 + 2 dogs but still enjoyed excellent welcome, service, menu choice. Each dish (both menu and daily specials) cooked and served to perfection. Lots of novel dishes to titilate one's taste buds - special commendation for the "joues de cochon" (pigs' cheeks) : so succulent and lean. Small tip... More

We visited twice - on Friday the restaurant was packed and the atmosphere fantastic, the following Tuesday not as busy but just as pleasant; on both occasions the food was superb and the service faultless. The well balanced menu changed between our visits and in addition there was a 'daily' specials board. Bottles of house wine were reasonably priced. We... More

So very up and down! Up - Warm welcome, good environment. Down - if the menu offers aperitifs, why no-one at our table till you're asked 'what would you like to eat?' Up - vg starters of scallops and tarte de boudin. Down - gateau de confit de canard - so over-minced, with soft, un-browned mashed potato on top, like... More

Had a lovely meal here last night. Nice food beautifully cooked. Fantastic friendly service, so family run that the charming waitress carried her lovely 2 month old daughter in a sling as she worked! Nice atmosphere. Good food.glad I booked!

We couldn't wait to get back to our favourite restaurant in a town endowed with so many choices but this one is always our first choice. A quick phone call secured a table. The welcome is always as warm as the atmosphere. Comfortable, tasteful and wonderful aromas from the visible kitchen. It is a husband and wife team and their... More

This place is highly recommended! The service (by the Cook's daughter) was very kind and spoke good English. The atmosphere is fantastic. The food was outstanding. We both had fish which was well prepared! Dont miss this place!

We were here just for the day(lunch) and wanted a cosy, typically charming French resto -nothing too formal. We found La Gambetta and Le Tortue and whilst they looked very smart - they were perhaps a little too formal for our desired casual lunch needs. We had the local kir based on normandy cider; rather than wine/champagne and it was... More

Go go this restaurant. The Poisson du Jour was excellent. Dorado? and salmon in a lovely sauce with tender peas and carrots and mashed potatoes maybe lathered in butter. The camembert cheese (warmed) in pastry was a nice starter. My wife had mussels (lots) which were very sweet. Her cod (main) was excellent. The French know how to cook fish.... More

Ate lunch here last week. A very full house with many people turned away. We chose a three-course menu, and everything was delicious. Dessert was a caramel coated peach, with vanilla ice cream. It was outstanding! Very hard-working staff of two in the front of the house.
