Having eaten at this restaurant on many occasions over the years it has never been anything less than excellent. Honfleur is a stunning tourist rich attraction with nearly as many restaurants as art galleries. Although some of the restaurants are great, knowing that a lot of their visitors are 'one offs' most leave a lot to be desired! I have... More

Just steps from the postcard-perfect Honfleur harbor and next door to the eponymous hotel, l'Absinthe is Normandy cuisine beautifully prepared and served. Be sure to eat in the main dining room for its character and atmosphere. A family operation? The same guy who helped us upstairs with our bags was our waiter and was always attentive but never intrusive. Great... More

Fantastic, very attentive staff, food excellent. Birthday treat, they even brought out my dessert with a candle in it and gave us complimentary champagne.

This was our second visit, and confirmed our last visit: the obsequious service and pretentious atmosphere (encyclopedic and very expensive wine book) does not make up for pretty boring cooking. The fish is fresh, which is the least one could expect. But both the conception of the cooking and the plate presentation is ho-hum. When Honfleur is full of tourists... More

We sat in the conservatory, the food and wine were very good and there was a good atmosphere, a rather loud but enjoyable firework display for the prawns during dinner as well as the bagpipes. Decor is inviting and we highly recommend it.

It is expensive for a 5 people family comparing to what we got. Service is very good with waiters very well trained. Food was good but more towards the 'nouvelle cousine' side

Whenever I find a place that is busy and in the middle of tourist attraction I expect very little. L'Absinthe was an exception. The decor is lovely, inviting and warm. The bar has good selection of single malts and beers. The wine list is also excellent. The meal was a great mix of seafood as one would expect but they... More

Meat and fish were tender and well cooked, staff were friendly, atmosphere good - for the price hoped for something a little bit more - however would still recommend it

A definite cut above the many restaurants in Honfleur with out being over priced. Delicious food. Good value wine list offering a complete range price wise and choice. Excellent service and ambiance. Will go back when in the area again.

Visiting Honfleur at the start of July we stopped at the L'Absinthe for a quick lunch on arrival and were enticed to stay for hours. Having visited several times in the past we were expecting something special and got just that, from the oysters to the cheese. It has always been a class act and I thoroughly recommend it to...
