Good, straightforward French cooking - a relief after the gourmet experiences

After three nights of poncy gourmet meals - fab in their way but so refined and complicated - I was pining for something straightforward and simpler. And this is that. No black slates. No grey walls. No hushed descriptions of every ingredient. Just good, fresh ingredients properly cooked. I started... read more

The truffle pasta was extra ordinary. Actually one of the best we have had, ever. The fish was also delicat. You will not get dissapointed at their desserts either. I can really recommend this restaurant.

No complaints, but food only average. Service OK, portions OK, but rather bland all round. 3 course menu €30.

Rather ordinary brasserie, at Paris/London prices and unexciting cooking. 30 euro lunch menu can be found with much better cooking and value all over the region, but I guess deauville is a touristy seaside town where restaurants have little real competition?

We have eaten at this restaurant many times over the last 15 years and we have never been disappointed. Today was no exception - we both opted for the 20 euro menu (3 courses) and it was fantastic. My wife had the Duo de Mer which was salmon and Dorade in a lemon butter sauce. She was a bit worried... More

Attentive (but not fawning or intrusive) service. Great views and location. Wonderfully fresh seafood (oysters); simply and impeccably prepared fish (cabillaud). Reasonable prices, by Deauville standards. Recommended.

We had the best seafood fusion there. Our golden retrievers were welcome on the terrace, and the food was stunning. The only negative is a bit of traffic, but the first bite of fried squid or their own style fois gras or fresh lobster will make you forget about just anything. The St.Jaqs (scallops) with gingerbread sauce fused with a... More

We had a great meal at this restaurant. Warm starters with gambas, squid and scallops – all beautifully cooked. Sole as main course. The fish was cooked with chili and herbs that initially spoke with a low, somber voice, but then rose to a delightful level – never overpowering the star of the dish, the sole. The food felt unusually... More

On a recommendation, we stopped by Le Comptoir while visiting Deauville. We we very impressed with the food across the board. It features pretty traditional French food, so not particularly innovative, but done very, very well. I ordered the Cote de Veau (veal chop), which is clearly a specialty of the house. Wine list was not large, but had some... More

I've eaten here many times, and the food is consistently good. They serve both meat and fish, and have some interesting choices. The owners are charming, but so is the rest of the staff who will, for example, remember which kind of beer you like, or whether you prefer sparkling water or still. Deserts are good, too. And you can... More
