With a very nice advise from the sommelier the meal start with original and delicious entree. An additional piece is provided by the chef with a sophisticated gaspacio. We moved forward with a fish well prepared. I recommend to close the meal by the modern fruit salad called the water lily. The bread is great but don't expect to see... More

As this was our last night in Deauville we decided to eat at L'Essentiel since it was well rated in Tripadvisor. We did not book a table and arrived at the restaurant at around 7.20pm and a table was found without any problem. We chose the Decouverte menu at 59euros, as it had a seafood slant and gave opportunity to... More

We had lunch here today and were amazed at the care and detail put into the dishes we enjoyed. We sat outside half in the shade and half in the sun which was very pleasant. We started with apéritifs and tapas which were good. Then lobster bisque which was beautifully served and absolutely delicious. For our main courses my Partner... More

Good food and good ambiance. You can eat outside and the waiter was very kind with us. Fish is fresh.

Good restaurant tasting menu at 59€. I recommend. Perhaps to be picky only downside is that more various tastes would have been needed in the menu.

What a wonderful find ... living in SW France it is hard to find something that is not "duck, duck and steak". L'Essentiel with its Asian influenced French food was a fabulous change, from the norm ...... the lunch menu of the day was tofu/mushroom amuse bouche, ray-wing presse (like a terrine) with pickled radish entree, beef/shitake main and white... We went to this restaurant because it was highly ranked on TripAdvisor, and was advertising "French-Asian" fusion. We took the "Découverte" menu, which is 4 half-portions, plus cheese, plus a dessert, for 59€, which is good value and allows you to try almost half of their menu, but is not a massive deal. They managed to accommodate our "no red... More

A blast! Very creative cuisine, super fresh ingredients, a bit of fusion and a lot of talent!! Wine list is just amazing; connaisseur wines at v reasonable price. Chef makes himself available to his passion. Such a contrast with all the other restaurants we tried in Deauville.

Surprisingly for a Friday night, the restaurant was half empty. Luckily this was not a sign of bad food. The food was great with Asian twists, really great, especially the lamb confit. The Wagyu beef was sadly over cooked and slightly dry.The prices are on the high side, but it was still worth it.

L'Essentiel will definitely deserves its first Michelin star any time soon - we had the "menu decouverte", 6 dishes, all of them exquisite. Definitely a "must go" address in Deauville for fine dining.
