The Bouchon was closed and the one that had been recommended to us for today was fully booked. Chosed randomly and made a mistake. The service was not unfriendly but was not very efficient, the food not good. Expensive for what we ate. End of story.

Normally I try to check out a new restaurant on Trip Advisor before going there but I didn't this time and I'm glad. After checking the many restaurants near the Chateau in Caen I decided on L'insolite because the host greeting prospective diners was friendly. The service was prompt and the dinner was perfect in preparation and presentation. I had... More

Being tempted by the vegetarian menu I spent €20 euros for burnt cheese on toast and a bag of steamed vegetables. Husbands food wasnt much better but the excellent wine made up for it! Service was very slow and whilst there we did see a part of four leave because their order hadnt been taken. The patron was a pleasant... More

We chose to eat here because it looked cosy and inviting, the menu was interesting and good value. The service was very slow, with several customers, including ourselves, having to chase after the waiter to ask if we had been forgotten. It is a shame, because it spoilt what would have been a pleasant evening.

We were having a dinner with my husband there. Ordered a king size seafood plate. Portion was miserable, we were hungry afterwards! Some oysters were milky and mussels were just disgusting! Owner/chef was really not nice. When we nicely asked to change our plates, he was very unhappy with that. At the end, when we tried to criticize the seafood... More

We visited as an ad hoc group following a recommendation from our hotel - suffice to say that it lived down to the other recent reviews regarding the service. The food took forever to arrive - the staff had to be hurried and pressured to bring it several times and the desserts had still not arrived at 11.30 pm (we... More

We found a beautiful quiet street with many quaint restaurants, all with outside/street tables and all seemed idyllic.... We chose one restaurant, shown to a table outside, only to be warned by the couple on the next table that the last two couples had left because service was so slow. We left after 10mins too. Our second choice was just... More

Went as part of group of 4. Three of us are vegetarians and opted for the vegetarian menu. We ended up paying £20 each, for a plate of cold, raw vegetables for the starter and a plate of hot, salty vegetables (mostly carrots) for our main course. I have NEVER experienced such poor fare. We advised the restaurant manager, before... More

The food was terrible. No taste, the fish taste like rubber. Vegetables were overcooked or raw. Even the dessert crème brulee was not ok, half the sugar was not melted. Avoid at all costs!
