Outstanding Food and wonderful, personal service!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our Viator guide and she could not have been more correct. There were two menus and we chose the $22.00 one that included an entree, a main and a voice of dessert or cheese plate. We also managed to finish a carafe of their house Bordeaux which was... read more

We chose this place because we liked the way it looked and only later realized it was highly recommended by our Lonely Planet guide. The recommendation is well-earned indeed: everything was perfect - from the wide choice of dishes to the large selection of wines by the glass to the friendly and attentive service. Tip: do drop by a few... More

La Bouchon du Vaugeaux – Caen Fantastic food, lovely, smiley wait staff, great wine – what’s not to like? My foie gois was delicious and my partner loved his main course of fillet of bass. Desserts were great (try the carrot sorbet – it’s wonderful!) and the wine suggestion worked really well. But the highlight was definitely the staff –... More

This place served one of the best meals I've ever eaten in France in 20 years of visiting there! It was a bit too warm inside due to the unexpected heatwave but Corinne kept us supplied with plenty of water. She was extremely helpful in translating the menu into English for us and couldn't have done more to help us.... More

This small restaurant was recommended to us by a guide at Omaha Beach! We went there on a Wednesday night. Despite the fact that it appeared to be booked the owner made room for us. The meal was wonderful. Well prepared food, reasonably priced with personalized service would be our general description of this restaurant. My wife who is not... More

We came early when the place opened so we got in with no booking. The service was nice (no English menu but the waitress translated the items for us). We went for the fixed menu and enjoyed every dish. Excellent French cuisine and an authentic experience.

Superb! Great food. Amazing service. Loved the deserts particularly - try the apple-based desert! Vive Emmanuel et Corine!

Have eaten here several times now. This was a Saturday lunch for four. There is quite a wide choice of dishes and menu combinations. I had for my main course veal which included kidneys as well as chunks of meat. We all enjoyed the meal. Many of the dishes are twists on traditional French classics

We were very lucky to get the table without reservation. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Food was magnificent! They have set menus but also ordering separate dishes or combining is not a problem. One improving point - they should have menus in English. The price is not low but well worth it for the quality of the food. I... More

I'm not an expert on this sort of thing but this seems to be an ideal, traditional restaurant with high quality regional cuisine. If you want a better people-watching venue then go to the restaurants over the road in the Rue du Vaugueux. But if you want delicious, hearty food and very friendly, efficient service then come here. We had... More
