Good vibe at short prices but could do better

This is a very popular restaurant at the entrance to the Vaugueux dining area. It is usually packed so best to book. Quite cramped and lively, but that is a good part of the attraction. Mainly French people but also popular with tourists and friendly waiting staff will help with the menu if... read more

This was a fabulous experience. The owner spoke english and explained the menu. The restaurant was quaint, charming with a welcoming atmosphere. The food...well..left us speechless!

Have eaten here several times over last few years. Small, intimate and friendly place. Great food efficiently served. On Saturdays they have 2 sittings 7.30 and 9.30pm. Food is all home made with creative twists on some familiar dishes

Last night in Caen and looking for somewhere authentically French. Literally fell over this place and at 7.15pm it was dead. Took the plunge and were seated right next to the only other couple in an empty yet small and cosy French bistro. We figured they were either mad or very confident. Within 30 mins the place was packed. They... More

This restaurant is one of the classics.... and what amazes me more than anything is how such dishes are created in one of the smallest kitchens ever... There are a choice of menus one with a cheese and desert course and the other with desert or chesse. Our party of 8 sat in the round table in an alcove and... More

We just loved this restaurant. The waitress was wonderful and helped us when our French failed. The three courses we each had were all excellent including three out of the four types of Normandy cheese. I wish there was a place like this where I live.

This was the first best restaurant that we ate in during our four day stay in Caen. We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and was informed that if we came back in half an hour then we could have a table. Sure enough, when we returned our table was ready. It is a small, cosy and buzzy restaurant... More

We visited this restaurant by accident last year and had an astounding meal. As we were visiting Caen again we booked to ensure we had a table as it was a Friday Night. The meal was delightful, service excellent and the house white wine divine. We shall visit again next time we are in Caen, can't recommend this restaurant enough.

I wandered down to the Bouchon on my one night stay in Caen just on the off chance given previous comments about needing to book. Was delighted and amazed that they fitted me in and then gave me one of the best meals I've eaten in France. Utterly delicious food and friendly service at a good price given the high... More
