L'Alchimie a Superb Choice in Bayeux

Everything about this small and intimate restaurant worked well, from the unusual sardine pate amuse bouche to the innovative appetizer of tomato and Camembert crumble to the Saint Pierre fish to the beef fillet. Service was impeccable, and the waitperson had just the right amount of warmth, which... read more

We had a party of seven (including three kids 8, 10 and 12), and I think we were the last walk-ins on the night we dined at L'Alchimie. The service was extremely friendly, the atmosphere wonderful, and the food downright heavenly. My advice would be to have a Kir Normand, the pate, and then whatever the special is. I can't... More

We made sure we booked and weren't disappointed. Very good food, beautifully prepared. Like a number of Bayeux restaurants service was personal and attentive and we had an enjoyable meal. Please don't ask why I chose Gazpacho (Spanish) followed by Osso Buco (Italian) but I did and they were both good. Menu was good value with good choices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at L'Alchimie. This is the third time we have been there - we always make sure we eat there whenever we visit Bayeux and the food is always great. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed. This time I had the foie gras assortment and the beef fillet rossini - both excellent especially... More

We stumbled on this restaurant in Bayeux at lunchtime and were really impressed with it. We had no reservation but were welcomed and given a lovely table. It was quiet in the restaurant (some covers were finishing their metal as we arrived) but it was a rainy weekday in February. The menu was extensive with a la carte, board specials... More

We didn't anticipate that we would be wowed by the quality of their offerings - we were. My husband and I both ordered their tuna entree and enjoyed a few appetizers desserts and wine, all for a very reasonable cost. I cannot remember exactly, but we are cost conscious and felt we dined very, very well. The ambience is simple,... More

Our third restaurant when in Bayeux and probably the best we tried. The restaurant was quiet the evening we visited but I gather that booking in advance is normally required. We had a first rate meal for 88 euro including wine and kirs. Would be my first choice if we visit again. Less formal than some but we liked the... More

We had dinner here our last night in France. Food was wonderful. Ambiance warm and inviting and service great. A gourmet treat in the countryside.

We visited L'Alchimie on a Monday in December - very off season, and walked in to a friendly welcome. We opted for a 24 Euro and a 36 Euro set menu and wine. I had the tomato and goat cheese crumble - well presented and delicious. Followed with 'Grandmas Cuisine' - pork on the bone with a wine sauce, a... More
