We wanted a reasonably light lunch and found this little place in Bayeux, mainly thanks to Trip Advisor reviews. When we asked to see a wine list we were told "It is all around you." Basically, you choose a wine from the shelf and each bottle has written on it the price per bottle to drink in or take away... More

My wife and I loved this restaurant. The owner and staff made the experience inviting and easy. You can choose the meal of the day and paired suggested wines, or you can choose your own options. The wine options are outstanding. One of our favorite meals in France. If you are in Bayeux and looking for a lovely meal, this... More

The reception is warm; the host is very friendly, enthousiastic and welcoming (in French). The food is okay, but it is not overwelming. The wine selection, however, is overwelming and we left with some extra bottles. All in all a very good experience.

Wen't to Le volet qui penche with my brother and father, based on Tripadvisor ratings for nearby restaurant in Bayeux. We had a little trouble finding the place (it's kind of tucked away) but were lucky enough to get the last seats when we got there. The food was classic country French - very tasty, not the mention excellent wines... More

This is a number ONE restaraunt in any country, it clearly wins over our recent experiences in Paris. Pierre, the owner is a great host, outgoing, friendly and very positive about the dining experience you will soon enjoy. Everything he said was true!! We had the Chef's choice menu and it was out of this world! Please go there when... More

Excellent food, wine, and atmosphere from people who are genuinely glad you are there. So nice to feel so welcomed and experience France at its best.

Eat here twice during our recent stay. Nice atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and chatty. Food was good to very good. Set menu was good value at €18 but not everything to my liking. The alternatives were limited enough. Excellent wines available here -choice and quality. Would definitely return here if back in Bayeux.

This is your place if you love wine and food--as lovely food is served in the middle of a wine shop. We stumbled in by accident, and what a happy accident! Real food in a town where almost every restaurant features crepes or pizza. The three course meal offered on the night we were there had a fish main course.... More

Having read the reviews, imagine my disappointment at being told this establishment was fully booked on our only free night in Bayeux. It must have shown on my face. Pierre Henri managed to squeeze us in as a second sitting, and it was well worth the wait! Great atmosphere, great staff, great food and some exceptional wine. Highly recommended.

Beginning with the warm welcome of Pierre Henri, followed by his graciousness and knowledge, punctuated by his love of life, Le Volet qui Penche is a complete experience of the best of Bayeux. It is located across the bridge from Villa Lara, opposite the Tourisme office on the main drag, and very close to the Bayeux Cathedral...central to everything!! That... More
