I wanted to go here from the first time I walked past, but it's often full, especially in the evening. We resolved to go for lunch however on our last day and it was a real treat. The man who served us (presumably the owner, though I didn't ask .. he's in many of the photos!) was so incredibly welcoming... More

My husband and I ate here the first night we were in Bayeux. We had the fixed price menu for the evening, which was a good choice, and reasonably priced.

The food was really not worthy. No chance to choose a la carte but only a menu for 18 euro. As an appetizer melon pieces with absinthe, absinthe which was only a shadow. Main course supposed to be chicken wings, but was not available for us. We got ham and mixed vegetables cooked very bad. The dessert was a Normand... More

Kind of shocked at the reviews this place gets. pros: Extremely nice staff. Lovely little setting Cons: we were given no choice of menu items, even though they were shown to others. Our meal was a salad with a ton of bacon on it, sliced turkey with beans, and rum cake non of which was anything to write home about.... More

A group of us visited this restaurant on our first night in Bayeux. The service was superb from the start. We were not show a menu, simply a blackboard with the days options. Apparently the menu changes daily. We opted for the owners recommendations for wine with the courses. The rose was very refreshing and the red was delicious. The... More

I chose this place for dinner purely on the basis of its Trip Advisor ranking, so it's only right that I should add to that! This is a beautiful little place - more an extensive wine shop than restaurant, which gave it a unique feel. The set menu (€18 excl. wine) was great value. All three courses were good rather... More

I find it astonishing that this 'restaurant' is no.2 on tripadvisor. Having a set menu can only work if the food is exceptionally good. The food we had was very mediocre - prawns, smoked salmon and melon for starter, tasteless lamb stew for main, with a shop-bought stale custard slice for pudding. Over- priced wine. Really can't understand why everyone... More

We came here based on TA reviews. The 18euro dinner is very good value and the novelty of not choosing all the courses was interesting. There was a choice of 2 mains luckily, as I do not like sausage dishes. My husband chose it and found it very strong but different! We enjoyed the meal, but as we drank the... More

Do not pass this small gem by while in Bayeux. WOW! What a treasure. It looks like a wine shop and it is partly, but go for the food - and some wine too, of course! The menu is set every day. We began with a lovely glass of sparkling pear cider and some charcuterie. Then on to a spectacularly... More

We happened upon Le Volet Qui Penche during the busy D-Day celebrations week, and ended up having a really enjoyable evening. The set menu was three courses of delicious, proper homemade food, and the accompanying wine a perfect pairing. The place was packed to the rafters with diners of multiple nationalities (only one French-speaking table), whom our two indefatigable hosts... More
