We've had lunch here a couple of times recently. The first time, we were quite impressed - enough so to want to return. When the opportunity to call in again for lunch arose, we went back, but were somewhat disappointed. I ordered the "plat du jour" - lamb chops (from New Zealand, by the way) and asked for them to... After a long days travelling and walking around Bayeaux centre we came upon this restaurant after spotting it slightly off the main street . It looked funky and cosy with wines back lit along the walls. As it was 930 pm the owner Pierre -Henri hesitated for a microsecond only, then welcomed us to come in. The waiter, though attending... Le Volet qui Penche was just a few minutes walk from our bed and breakfast and came well recommended. We were not disappointed - the food was very good, the staff was ever so friendly, and service was excellent. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and the wine recommended by our waiter was a perfect match to our dinner choice. Afterwards... More

Delightful meal at this quaint spot. The menu of the day was excellent as was the wine accompaniment. The decor is very clean and modern, a nice upscale wine bar with food. The owner, Pierre-Henri, is very personable and helpful. To cap off a wonderful evening he gave us a delightful after dinner glass of Sauvignon Blanc! Highly recommend!

This is both a restaurant and a wine store. The fixed menu changes every day and is posted on a blackboard as you come in. A few other options are available posted on another board behind the bar. All the bottles have the price per glass, per bottle consumed in the restaurant, and price for the bottle to take away.... More

We were very disappointed with the very limited fixed menu, starter was OK but main course lacked any inspiration and the desert, chocolate cake with sauce would embarrass Marks and Spencer Would not recommend this restaurant at all

We chanced upon this little bistro during a day trip to Bayeux. The proprietor was so friendly and helpful - no problem to have the plat du jour though it was mid-afternoon; no problem to make a more child-friendly version more for our daughter. And with generous helpings of quality food and a nice glass of wine, it was great... More

Our last few hours in Bayeux were spent in this small cafe. We were made to feel special. We were given suggestions on food and wine. There were four of us and everything that we ordered was just delicious. But the best was a the individual plates of about 7 beautifully presented petite desserts. We wanted more of every small... We chanced onto Le Volet qui Penche, peeked in and enjoyed it so much we returned for a 2nd time the next night for our anniversary. You are treated like a valued friend the instant you walk in the door. The food was great - local and fresh. The owner shops each day and chooses what will be served based... More
