Beginning with the warm welcome of Pierre Henri, followed by his graciousness and knowledge, punctuated by his love of life, Le Volet qui Penche is a complete experience of the best of Bayeux. It is located across the bridge from Villa Lara, opposite the Tourisme office on the main drag, and very close to the Bayeux Cathedral...central to everything!! That... More

A small eatery nicely presented. The owner and serving staff do a first class job in customer service/relations. The place has a fantastic atmosphere and was filled with bright happy people. On the night I was there the limited choice menu ( read one choice ) delivered very average rustic style food. Lacking in flavour and poor textured meat. The... More

We were so fortunate to come upon this beautiful bistro. It ended up being our favorite experience in Bayeux. Pierre Henri was such a gracious and warm host....in addition to being incredibly funny. His wine selection is phenomenal and he is so knowledgeable about each and every bottle. He brought us a selection of local cheeses that were the best... More

We need to thank trip adviser as it helped us to find this wonderful and excellent food. Nine adults and two children enjoyed an excellent luncheon and the special coffee desert option was the best I have had during out family trip around France.

We stopped in for dinner without a reservation, and the owner, Pierre-Henri accommodated us anyway, which was the start of a great meal. This bistro is a wine store/restaurant . The wine selection is superb. Pierre changes the menu daily, that is the Plat du jour, it's a 3 course meal for a very reasonable price( ours was €18). He... More

The beautiful town of Bayeux has much to offer. Finding this unique restaurant was a plus! The presentation of food was perfect, taste was outstanding and the ambiance was ideal for a special dinner. We were warmly welcomed and without a reservation, immediately seated.. Decor was unique, the use of wine bottles adding to the setting and warmth. For our... More

We considered ourselves fortunate to stumble upon this place. If you go anywhere in Bayeux, try having some wine and food here. We stopped in without a reservation, but they were booked. I asked when they might have a table, and they suggested in a half hour some people would leave. We sat at an outdoor table, and they gave... More

We've had lunch here a couple of times recently. The first time, we were quite impressed - enough so to want to return. When the opportunity to call in again for lunch arose, we went back, but were somewhat disappointed. I ordered the "plat du jour" - lamb chops (from New Zealand, by the way) and asked for them to... After a long days travelling and walking around Bayeaux centre we came upon this restaurant after spotting it slightly off the main street . It looked funky and cosy with wines back lit along the walls. As it was 930 pm the owner Pierre -Henri hesitated for a microsecond only, then welcomed us to come in. The waiter, though attending... Le Volet qui Penche was just a few minutes walk from our bed and breakfast and came well recommended. We were not disappointed - the food was very good, the staff was ever so friendly, and service was excellent. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and the wine recommended by our waiter was a perfect match to our dinner choice. Afterwards... More
