Such great people.

A had a day to spare before a week long business trip. Visiting Normandy had always been on my bucket list, so without much planning, I decided to make the day trip. After a long day of travel, I arrived in Bayuex tired, hungry, and a little intimidated; I didn't speak a lick of French. I walked... read more

We rented an apartment in Bayeux and arrived late afternoon on Sunday April 26th. We were thirsty and hungry but most restaurants are closed on Sunday but we found this pub. Food was basic but very good and so was the beer. The waitress also gave us a packet of milk free because no shops were open and we needed... More

We were happy to find this place open on a Monday night, where everywhere else in town seemed to be closed. The burger I had wasn't bad. The best thing I can say about this place is feeling relaxed like at home, and the prices are good.

Overall a nice little pub on the main street in Bayeux. If all you want is to have some drinks with a basic bit of food (pretty much an appetizer, fish and chips, or a burger) then this place will do nicely. It probably rates 4 stars if all you want to do is drink, there is no way this... More

Bonjour vcapa, Thanks for writing a review for our pub on tripadvisor & we appreciate your compliments. I am somewhat perplexed though that you say we have a limited food menu , classed as appetizers.. ? On our menu we have a choice of toasted sandwiches , homemade soup, Complete Salad , omlettes with various fillings, chicken nuggets with french... More

Only Pub in Bayeux with a Guinness sign hanging proudly in front. They pour a perfect pint, a lost art in America. All that aside, they speak enough English, and even give impromptu French lessons, like how to properly pronounce " Le Conquerant" in French! If you want more than a beer or other drink, the homemade soup of the... More

Perfect, cozy, pub atmosphere after a long, cold day sightseeing. It wasn't expensive and the food was just what I was looking for.

When my friend and I got to Bayeux, it was a ghost town; No tourists, and the locals were on ski holiday. We had dinner at L'Arthe (see review) and wanted to get drinks after. The owner suggested Le Conquerant. I had read good reviews, so we headed over. There was no one in the bar and Marc and Dara... More

Not knowing Bayeux and wandering for quite a while around 6.00 p.m. looking for somewhere to eat that was open at that time, other than coffee bars, by chance we came upon this little gem very near the centre. There was an important Rugby match on at the time, which wouldn't normally have interested us much, but it turned out... More

My husband and I ate here after a day of travel and sightseeing. We were tired, it was dark and dreary out, and Le Conquerant provided us a good, hearty, warm meal. We were mostly left to ourselves in a corner table we chose for ourselves. The waitstaff was very accommodating to our preference to eat quickly (by French standards... More

Bonjour La Belle Marianne , Many thanks for your kind words regarding your visit to Le Conquérant - we appreciate them :) Regarding the smell of smoke , I believe that was due to one of our entry doors which doesn't close correctly - the wonders of a 200 year old building ! Someone was probably smoking outside , &... More
